Pyramid Acoustic 12 339/12

I use pyramid strings a lot, both on acoustic as on my electric guitar. The sound is very balanced, bright, but also warm and not too extensive on the heights. Even after trying various brands (and much more expensive ones), I always come back to Pyramid strings. Only downside to mention: they hold their excellent tone not for as long as other brands do. I play a lot and need to chance strings often. However, since I use tapping and various techniques, which are quite demanding for the strings, that's no surprise. The low price is a welcomed relieve. Very good strings for a reasonable price, I recommend to check them out!
La Bella 710-12L Silk & Steel

As per my review of the 6 string version, I have used these strings for over 30 years. They give a mellow sound and are easy on the fingers. They work well for guitars with low frets, which can be hard to fret with traditional strings when playing fast fingerstyle. They do make playing a 12 string easier, and tuned to drop D reduce the chance of bellying and bridge lift. I have 12 strings 40+years old still in good condition by using these strings. There are other silk and steels on the market, but these are the original and best. Highly recommended.
Optima 1747-12 EL 12 String Set

The string are expensive, yes, but they last me so long it's worth it. I once had a set of these strings on my 12 string guitar for over a decade, and only changed them after a guitar set up (I hate changing strings, especially on a 12 string!). They stay in tune, and the sound doesn't dull to my ears. Coating the strings in 24 k gold does definitely give them a "played in" more mellow tone, but I like that as I don't like the "zingy" overtones of new strings. To me the only con is the price, but they are cost effective because they sound good, and stay in tune for so long!!
Elixir Nanoweb Light 12 Str. Acoustic

I've tried Elixer strings on both electric and acoustic in the past. On electric, I've never been fond of the feel. To me they're a combination of a little too tight and a little slippery under my fingers. On 6 string acoustic they're okay but a little too bright sounding for my taste. However, when it comes to 12 string (I only use mine for around 10-20% of a standard acoustic gig) I see them as excellent value for money. I have little patience for changing strings on my 12 string Takemine so like to do it far less than I would on my Martin D28. These keep a nice bright consistent sound for a long time and aren't too easy to break. I'm a pretty heavy hitter as a player and using them on 6 string is impractical to me due to the higher cost of Elixer strings. This is a nice gauge...
Harley Benton Valuestrings WE12 10-50

Suddenly after the purchase of a new guitar the best sound improvement could be achieved with the replacement of the stock strings set, usually provided with the lowest possible quality. So, while waiting to read some review on the net about the best choice for a set of strings for my 12 string guitar, I've decided to buy this Harley Benton set... Well, to my surprise, the overall quality of those strings are more than decent: manufacturing is very well done, each string coming into its package, no defect at a visual inspection. Then, after installing the string on the guitar, the sound test has been really satisfactory: the improvement with respect to the stock set is really sensible and the overall feeling with those strings is surprising when their price is taken into account. I'm...

Guitar tone is more subjective than almost any other topic. So, strings are a very personal thing. I'm sure that brand loyalty has as much to do with our perception of that tone as any other ingredient. Even so, many people would never think of putting a set of 9s on a 12 string, but even on an inexpensive guitar they really sing. I was looking for a very soft, extra light set of strings for my 40-year-old Eko Ranger 12-string. I wanted a gentler strain on the neck and a softer touch to play. These were perfect. They feel so comfortable. So soft and light. The action is amazing for my light touch style. I was suprised that they weren't individually wrapped (as I am used to) but they were color coded with a nice chart on the outer package. They've been installed now for several weeks...
