Remo 14" Diplomat Snare Reso Head

Remo 14

Based on 9 reviews

I bought this to replace my ambassador snare head, as I am now playing at lower volumes and wanted extra sensitivity. I had been amazed at the difference putting ordinary diplomats on the bottom of my mounted toms had made to the sound in terms of brightness and response, and so I wanted the same result from my snare drum. Anyway, to cut to the chase, it didn't give e the results I was hoping for. Maybe an ambassador snare head is thin enough already, but I didn't get extra sensitivity or brightness- what I got was a fatter tone- almost the opposite of what I was expecting. I seemed t get less f a difference in the sound between quiet and loud. It was almost as if it was overloading the head, as if it couldn't quite cope. Anyhow, I wasn't unhappy with the sound of my ambassadors- it...

Remo 14" Emperor Reso. Snare Head

Remo 14

For snare-side resonant heads the standard option is a Remo Ambassador or Evans Hazy 300, which are the ones to choose if in doubt. Occasionally I have found the thicker Remo Emperor (this one) or Evans Glass 500 is useful. On my very deep (14 x 10") snare it was a good choice for allowing very low tuning on both heads without too much snare buzz. I also found it useful with a tricky steel snare where I was looking to reduce resonant problems. However, when tuning another metal snare and at higher tunings it was not as appropriate as an Ambassador. Also note that some novices have confused a snare-side resonant head (the underneath one with the wires next to it) with a batter head (the top one that you hit). This is a resonant head.

DW 14" Resonant Snare Drum Head

DW 14

Based on 2 reviews

I bought this head because I am a bit of a nerd, and like things to be as the DW factory sent them. The Head is really made by Remo, so it is virtually an Ambassador Hazy, or , equivalent Evans would be 300 Hazy. The quality is spot on, it comes in a sturdy cardboard box, to prevent any damage in transport. SUMMARY, if you have a DW snare, this will probably be your preferred choice of head, agreed, you could save some money putting other heads on, but, if this was good enough for DW to fit at the factory, then it is certainly good enough for me.

Remo 14" Ambassador Snare Reso

People will tell you which is 'best' out of Remo, Evans or Aquarian, but don't believe any of them. They are all good- just choose the one which is best for your ears. Basically, the Remo coated ambassador is the brightest sounding one of them. The Evans sounds darker and the Aquarian one darker still. The Remo one has powder coating which starts to chip off almost immediately, and could be annoying. The Evans ones last longer, and the Aquarian coated heads are bulletproof- they last for ever. However, what I realised is that I don't mind the chipping because I much prefer the brighter remo sound. By the time loads of the coating has chipped off it is time to change the head anyway because it has started to stretch slightly in the middle. If you are a hard hitter, and don't want a...

Evans 14" MS3 Polyester Snare Reso

Evans 14

Note that I bought a few of these as a test. I altered the size of the small rings to test a few ideas for a drumkit snare. So I did not use it for what it was made for. The quality is good, the sound was... usable on a drumkit snare, but it was obviously not the best. The smaller (altered) versions produced a better sound, but still not as good as a standard snareside head. The sound I got was a combination of a regular snare and a marching snare. Weird for a drumkit snare. Did not keep it on, went back to regular snareside heads. I suspect, it would have sounded great on a marhing snare. But not recommended for drumkit snares (wood or metal).

Millenium 14" Sound Control Ring Snare

Millenium 14

I don't think anyone who has bought this product can actually say that this snare ring didn't meet expectations. It does exactly what's it's supposed to do, especially when you consider the price. I, for one, am a happy customer. I would totally recommend, no doubt. PS: I have tried it on my 14" floor tom, and needless to say, the results are great! Écoutez, ceux et celles qui ont acheté ce produit ne peuvent se plaindre car vous avez tout justement acquis cet anneau de contrôle pour la modique somme d'un p'tit Euro. C'est un accessoire efficace qui aide vraiment à balancer le son de la caisse claire. Je recommende sans hésitations. PS: Je l'ai essayé sur mon floor tom de 14" et le résultat est vraiment incroyable.

Evans S14H30 14" Snare Resonant Head

I bought this resonant head because of the reviews and everyone recommends it as a must for resonant head. I had my original resonant head which ripped so I bought this one to replace it. Although you're not going to actually "play" the reso head, having a good one on the bottom nicely tight and tuned properly it will definitely allow your snare sound to really sing. Add it with a pure sound snare wires and you've got yourself a really nice bottom combination. Quality wise evans is really good, it doesn't go out of tune and the sound it produces is really great. You can't go wrong with evans. Overall is a very nice product and I will by again when needed.
