Engl E412VS Pro BK

Based on 4 reviews
The day my Engl E412VS arrived my neighbours knocked on my front door, twice. Once to tell me that if I didn't stop playing guitar so loudly they'd call the cops and once to ask to borrow some sugar. This cab is a great, full sounding american style cab. Engl come in with a versatile, modern sound that harbours back to the classic Marshall cabs while still having it's own, unique sound profile. While I mainly play metal, this puppy is even good with full clean tones, reverb has no bounders, leads blister their way to the front and heavy dirty guitar takes a bite out of you using this cab. My only con was one that was to be expected, and that was a slight fizz in one of the speakers out of the box, this went away after prolonged playing, but it's worth noting that Engl aren't infallible.
Marshall MR1960BHW

Ever since I started getting serious about recording a couple of years ago, I realised how not just the speakers, but the cabinet itself can make or break the entire signal chain. Obviously, it's not good to have any weak links at all, but it's the cabinet and speaker(s) that are the least forgiving, and most crucial links in the chain - by far. I received a 1960BV cab a week before this, which is also a fantastic cabinet and I intend to keep both. But I have to say the BHW cabinet takes the cake for me, it's the most beautiful cabinet I have ever seen and takes "boutique" to a new level. You could even have it in your living room as furniture, with a 1959HW or 1987x on top it looks like a million dollars! The sound is also impeccable, as expected, and not only good with...
Marshall Origin 412 A Cabinet

The 4 Marshall celestion speakers in this cabinet produce a wall of great sounds with immense power, and it's quality really comes trough once you play at higher volumes. I am combinig it with a Marshall Origin 50H head and they pair up really well. The build quality seems really good. It's definitely NOT a piece of plywood junk. I tried opening the back side to see the speakers and there i found the only small issue i have with it. For some reason they screw the back plate in with 15 screws + the 4 screws of the jack input and those screws are really hard to unscrew. It's a 4x12 so the cabinet is expected to be a bit heavy as it weighs right around 30 kg. It might not be suitable for an exclusively-bedroom player due to it's power and size. All in all i would...
Marshall MR1960AHW

Exactly that aggressive bite in the mids that I was looking for, and with the english made G12H-30’s resonance frequency of 55Hz you really feel it in your guts when you play loud. 100% birch plywood. The only thing I miss is a 4 ohm connection on the back. Only 16 ohm on this cab, and sadly my JMP 2203 from ‘79 only have 4 and 8 ohm outputs. My solution is to buy the 1960BHW as well. Wasn’t planning to do that when I ordered my 1960AHW, but it just sounds so good that I thought to myself, what the heck… :-)
Marshall MX412AR

Looks on the photo actually not so big as in real life…Anyhow sounds good but little bit big for the room. I use it together with Marshall Origin 50H head. The cabinet seems to be universal – it’s suitable for blues, rock and heavy music, together with Origin 50 head gives warm tube sound with rich bass and excellent middle. I would also highlight the superb manufacturing quality and good handles. If comparing with combo – it’s another level of sound with classical tone and I would recommend it to everyone.
Marshall MR1960TV

This cab really made my day! It´s a few centmeters taller then the normal 1960 cabs and this make it look massive! I put two Celestion V30 speakers in it right away and got just the sound I wanted from my Mesa Mark IV! I also compared it to both the ENGL and the MESA cabs and can´t in any way say that those two are worth the pricetag when you can get this for almost half the price. So if you want a cab with that little extra go and pick this badboy up! Highly recomendes this cab for anyone that is going to play rock or metal.
Mesa Boogie Rectifier 412 Traditional ST

Based on 2 reviews
I use this cabinet to connect to my Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier head (also bought from Thömann) and it is fantastic with its' Celestion Vintage 30 speakers: Crystal clear tone which I would recommend for modern tones more than vintage tones as Celestion makes other speakers that are more suitable for vintage tones but this isn't to say that Vintage 30s cannot produce that vintage sound with the right eq settings and the type of amp! Also, I love how the wheels at the bottom can be easily removed by simply pressing a button instead of unscrewing them. It is obviously much faster with a simple push of a button. So when the wheels are removed, one is left with the rubber stoppers that grip to the floor. I leave the wheels on my cabinet on since I have an other slanted Rectifier...
Engl E412XXL-BK

This monster of a cabinet is as good as a cabinet can be.I play strickly Metal and used it with an Engl Powerball 2,an EVH 5150 and a Laney Ironheart. Construction : It is build like a tank. I've looked inside it and it is made by high quality multiplywood, reinforced in every corner, thick quality cables and there is even soundproofing on the back. The tolex is durable, the side handles and the removable wheels are heavy duty. Sound : It has the typical V30 sound but it sounds huge without getting boomy.I've tried most of the high end cabinets and this is by far the tightest and most aggressive of all. There is a high end punch to the sound you wont find in other cabinets.I did however find a bit harsh some high frequencies on the EVH amp so i used an EQ to cut some of the 16khz.So have...
Engl E412VG Pro BK Straight

This is an engl can with V30s in it, there are very few cans which give and absolutely brutal and cutting output (mesas for example are also ace). I use this with an engl amp and as such the pairing is phenomenal. I stopped using a cheap crate cab and bought this when the transistors went and I have never looked back. 8 ohm cab this one and is built like a tank, proper refined build will never cause you any issues. One thing I would say is that you need to be strong to lift this. Mesas weigh in at about 37kgs whereas this beast is an incredible 50kgs! Strong lats or reliable roadies / mates will be needed when lifting this one. Looks totally metal on stage and there's no 2 ways about it, it packs a tight fisted punch anywhere anytime any place. My other guitarist is now looking at...
Marshall MR1960 B

Many people won’t agree with that choice but I swear, this cab is excellent even at low volumes. It’s not harsh like the Vintage AV/BV series (Vintage 30) that I've owned for 10 years and has this powerful grit that identifies the Marshall sound 100%. The 1960B pumps on bass and body to sound. I think it's better than 1960A. It’s great for metal and reacts ridiculously well to high volumes. Very recommended, especially if you want to pair it with a JVM head for greater balance. JVM and 1960B it’s pure heaven……. Note that today's G12T-75 cones sound even better than previous ones. Give it a try before you buy and don't be influenced by what others say or the various tutorials on YouTube. Use with your ears!!!
