I have a Marshall MG15R with reverb for practice but it always lacked a bit 'ooomph'. I saw this speaker (8", 15W) and have had Celestions in previous Marshall amps and loved the tightness. Guitars used: Fender Std Strat, Telecaster, Epi LP and Fender Jaguar. Styles: Blues, Rock, funk-rock, Heavy metal and even a bit of Jazz sometimes (just about anything!) And that is what it does, it makes the Amp sound tighter and better pronounced... The lows are deeper and higher notes have more detail. Overdriven it produces a nice roar, that is just a little bit more like a higher end Marshall.. It makes a small amp sound a bit more mature. Installing it takes less than 15 mins and it's the best upgrade that this kind of money will buy! For the MG15R it was a direct replacement (I didn't...

I bought this speaker to replace the original Turbosound speaker in my little Bugera V5 Infinium combo. What a difference! The whole speaker swap procedure took me 5 minutes. The new speaker fitted snugly. No drilling needed. I had to adjust the negative connector slightly (I just used pliers, I guess a professional would replace it or solder the wire). The best way to describe it is to say that it opened the Bugera up. It added a lively top end and low end definition, making the Bugera sound way better and more lively than it did. I highly recommend a speaker update if you have have this amp. When you do you realise how boring and tinny sounding the original speaker really is. Good price for a speaker like this! The 8"-speaker of my old Solton PA with Kraaft speakers broke down, so I bought this one. I had seen several good ratings of Celestion speakers in general, but I didn't think I would get such a speaker in this price range. The speaker is mainly used for vocals and it sounds warm and clean, even better than the original Kraaft speaker. Building it into the box was easy, it fitted perfectly. In the future I will purchase some more of these to upgrade my old PA. I absolutely recommend this great speaker! Best Regards!

I bought this for a small PA which I use for live music and also for home theatre. I use a 12" 18 sound sub woofer and two 8" satellite speakers. It is important for me to have clear mids and tops for vocal harmonies and acoustic guitar. These speakers have excellent clarity and are nicely balanced across the frequency range. I use them with a pair of Eminence HF drivers crossed over at 3,5KHz and the sound is smooth. Recorded music is played back accurately with no harsh mids. Cons: The speaker arrived in an Eminence box with nothing on it that says EV. Once it's in the cabinet that doesn't matter because it sounds so good. I'm buying another one to replace the 8"-225 watt speaker in the other cab which is not as natural sounding as the EV.

Nothing in a 8 inch format get's you closer to a full mature sound. Had to swap a crappy 8inch speaker and bumped onto this one. MAYOR IMPROVEMENT!!!! Does not have the punchyness of a great 10" set, nor the balls of the famous 12"s but it does have a great (vintage-midrangy) sound. Multiple of these little gems do sometimes make heads turn around and stare your way. A benefit in most cases is the lower sensitivity, which prevents local law enforcers to ring your bell and saves you a visit to the weekly hearing-impaired-club when turning your amp up to get that nice break-up from the power tubes.

Nothing special to note about the sound or response of this speaker, but, for those times when you need a closed-back speaker, it?s a good choice. I?ve used a few of these, and, because of its closed-back design, they have been a life-saver when I?ve needed to mount a working speaker in unconventional or ill-designed cabinets (or for those situation when there was no cabinet whatsoever). Need a reasonably speaker mounted in a plaster sculpture? Need to just prototype a DIY project quickly without a cabinet at hand? No problem ;-) For those odd-ball situation, the Eminence Alpha-8MRA is hard to beat.
