perfect DI
I use it for my mandolins. EQ settings are great, tuner is precise and very easy to understand all in all. you get an EQ, boost, compressor and tuner for an amazing price.
Works well and has lots of customization
The built-in EQ and compression makes it very easy to adjust the sound of the guitar! The boost helps with the volume of my acoustic guitar as it goes directly in my line input and the boost is needed. Overall great preamp
Does what it says on the tin
Very versatile pre amp with decent features all around. Would recommend
Good sounding preamp, lacking some necessary things
I use it with the doublebass equipped with Fishman Fullcircle. The preamp really improved the amplified sound; EQ is voiced perfectly, really warm and clear tones. Low-cut/phase/notch/parametric mid really help against feedback in the usual loud settings I play. Compressor is nice and light, boost works really cleanly. Tuner is clearly visible and accurate.
Effects loop works good. After years of hauling my amp everywhere, I'm happy just to bring the Platinum Pro with me and use whatever PA or bass amp that's on offer at the venue. You will get a good sound with this unit no matter what.
Lacking:
- DI out sounds good but the output is too hot and loud, and it really is lacking a dedicated level/volume control.
- Tuner runs only while muted. Pity that it can't run at all times.
- Locations of jack inputs are not to my liking. Cables get in the way.
Great device, perfect for upright and bass guitar as well.
Great preamp for upright bass
I bought this preamp for my Electric Upright Bass. I must say I really like it. You can harness the sound with it and make it more focused. My favorite features are input trim which controls the amount of input you want and brilliance that can reduce excessive finger noise and buzz. There is also a tuner on it which is a bonus.
Fishman quality
I will try to keep this short but there are so many positive aspects to this pedal.
My Setup-Taylor 110e with ES2 pickup--Fishman Tonedeq--Fishman Platinum Pro EQ---Fishman Artist Loudbox or Maui 11 G2.So with that out of the way this my impression after playing and dialing it in for about 20 minutes.......Absolutely awesome the sound that comes out of my amp...it has improved enormously and you have a wide spectrum of tone sculpting.Even though the amp has antifeedback and a phase switch I was having feedback problems before...now I can literally sit in front of my amp, play and the notch knob is only turned to 4 and the phase switch on the pedal is on and ...the feedback is eliminated!! WHY!?? didnt I buy this pedal before I mean really it is way worth its money and then some. This pedal should be on every acoustic musicians pedalboard..period.
I tried it through my Maui 11 G2 and the sound was what I expected..really good and the sound from the Tonedeq were clearer than before....feedback...zero.
The sound from the Maui 11 G2 with this pedal just sounds better than before.
The tuner is quick, easy to see and accurate and can be used for multiple acoustic instruments....which is very good but....if you are playing in the sun it is VERY HARD TO SEE IT.Boost works well.
I am really impressed with this pedal and absolutely would recommend it without hesitating.
I would buy it again if anything went wrong.
Negatives-should have bought it earlier! lol
Excellent preamp for double bass
This thing handles a double bass as no others. No unnecessary coloring of the initial bass sound. Very nice compressor which gives that little extra sustain. Very usable notch control. Good tuner. No hum or noise.
Very solid built and affordable!
I have tested numerous acoustic preamps but have always ended up with a sort of nasal sound which killed the original sound of the bass. This one is without doubt the best if you dont wanna pay a lot of extra $$.
Beware that this stomp box is big and heavy. I has a tendency to eat batteries, so be sure to unplug when finished playing, and have an extra 9V available.
Do I recommend this preamp? Oh, yes! This is an essential preamp to have in the toolbox.
By the way... It works fine with an electric bass too.
The perfect match
All that you need for playin' live acoustic amplified guitar.
D.I. balanced output is really useful, complete EQ that you can isolate if you prefer to do it on your mixer, Boost and Compression, really clear built in tuner where you can modify the pitch (hz) all kind of switch to eliminate the possible return of sound ( however a soundhole cover is always reccomended ) ... If you want you can also add on the S/R other pedal effects.
The only defect for me is that if you want to use your EQ on the D.I. output you can't regulate the volume from the preamp, only from your guitar or control mix (it works if you isolate the EQ).
A well designed machine that do what I need.
Amazing!
I compared this with the lr baggs para di and at the end this was better!
It has a ton of feature and an amazing quality of the sound.
The compressor and notch are really useful!
The only downside are:
- i wish that fishman could do a version with less footprint this thing is huge
- could be really handy if it was phantom powered
(maybe disabling the tuner feature but keeping the rest?)
