Guitar to synth

apart from the fragile lead and mini usb connection this a magical bit of kit. Synths respond wonderfully to this pickup unit . The price is so low for technology that used to cost 1000s. I am a fan

Fast and accurate, but doesn't do continuous pitch-bending

For context: I use this as a pure pitch-to-MIDI adapter.

The dinky little proprietary plugin/app is irrelevant to me, because I plug it into either a hardware synth or my Linux DAW.

It _does_ register pitch-bends, but only transmits them in semitone steps.

The good: it works quickly and reliably, once you get it set up.

The less-good:

- It's fiddly to install. At least you expect that, so it doesn't come as a surprise.

- The aforementioned pitch-bend issue.

As long as you think of it as a way to get a guitar-shaped keyboard, it doesn't have any real competition.

If you want guitar-like expressivity with pitch-bends and vibrato _and_ multi-string pitch-tracking, you need to look at Roland/Boss or Sonicsmith and spend a lot more.

I rated it "average" for sound, because that's irrelevant for a MIDI device and there's no "not rated" option.

The best MIDI pickup I've so far come across, certainly for the price.

The latency is better than anything I've previously tried. It is as accurate (given my sloppy playing) as you could expect. There are various fittings to make it easy to fit to practically any guitar. (There was only a tiny space on my custom guitar between the existing pickups and the bridge, but it fitted OK). The software they supply has some great sounds, but you can use it with any plug-in or synth. Certainly good value for money.

The Best!!!

When I bought this, I already had an old Roland GR33 with GK3 pickup, and the software MidiGuitar2. Good as these are, the performance and simplicity of the Connect is brilliant! Love it! :)))

Fishman Tripleplay Connect

Very good piece of kit. It picks up the guitar notes quickly and cleanly. Works well with my Mac (In Logic and in the Fishman app). Very happy with it

It's alright... but there's still a lot to improve

It's definitely one of the best midi-guitar synths out there, but I think there's still lots to improve. The little unit feels a little too fragile. The pickup feels a bit cumbersome: what is that little "appendage" on the top? Couldn't it be as small as the Roland hex pickup? Why does the wire has to be so small and non-replaceable? I wish I could hook it up to my guitar strap or put it on the back instead of having it on the front. Also, that tiny USB connection looks like a disaster waiting to happen, so it's just for bedroom use, or very light studio work.

The latency is very noticeable to me, and you can't play too softly. You lose a lot most of the expressivity afforded by a guitar. But to be fair, pretty much every other solutions are also like this.

On the plus sides, the price is ok. Kudos to Fishman for making something affordable for all of us. Plus, it works as a real MIDI converter: you don't need any software on your computer, so it will keep working for years to come instead of going obsolete like anything computer-related.

Lag is somewhat noticable (~2ms) but nevertheless one of the few options for recording string instruments today. Works great with Ableton Live, without any additional configuration. As long as you are recording short verses without playback and adjusting them manually its all fine. Playing and recording along the metronome is tough due to the lag.
