I tried lots of strings and this is by far my favorite! Very powerful but also warm sound for viola. The strings also can stay quite good long period enough for me. for half year of intense using is not a problem. I used 6 sets of Peter Infeld and absolutely satisfied. cons: Since they are steel core strings , it take some time to play in and warm up the strings, usually I change at least 3 -7 days before when I really need the best sound from the strings. So maybe this is not a best solution right before concert or audition to use it. But overall, I can only recommend it! in my opinion, Peter Infeld are well balanced, not as super powerful as Spirecore C, G string , but just perfect tension for me. and not as light or simple to dig in to the string like vision Solo. I tried these strings having read reviews elsewhere. I usually play on either Pirastro Obligatos or Passiones and like a warm and rich sound. These strings fit the bill very well. They are very responsive, have a nicely complex sound and settled quickly (more quickly than Passiones certainly!). They allow a wide dynamic range and provide clarity of note even when playing ppp on lower strings (often a problem with violas typically having a lot of ‘surface sound’ They are only a few days in so far so can’t comment on longevity. I used the synthetic cored A. Note that the length specifications for these strings is vibrating length not back or body length.

The D string from Evah Pirazzi Gold is really great string with noble, deap and briliant tone. It is also nice and easy to play on it. Great response ass well.Tuning ability is good,but not perfect especially depending on the humidity. When is dry the string goes down a bit. The string can be consider as soft one , which can be plus or not depending on what the player need and what music will perform. Whatever the string is also powerfull and match great with Evah Pirazzi Gold A or the Larsen A string.

Since I am a huge fan of Pirastro and lately of Evah Pirazzi Gold I expecting something even better than Pirazzi Gold.. Perpetual are completely different kind of strings.Very high tension, but also softer to play on than the Pirazzi Gold and have even more gut colour sound and feeling. Maybe because of the high tension, they made my Viola go crazy when I tried them for a first time..the overtones were so loud and disturbing.. especially on double stops..flajolet's sounded very closed and without any depth and sound... The feeling while playing on the strings was and is nice....respond is very quick, but somehow without enough dynamics at the beginning, the sound was strange and closed..but this was just the first time...for a couple of days.. At a little over ¤30, I wasn't expecting much, but I'm pleasantly surprised. The low C string is heavier than I'd expected, giving a much richer tone than I thought likely from a small instrument (These are for a 3/4 size viola and I'm using them on a violin body). The top A string sounds a little 'thin' by comparison, but overall these strings are pleasant to play and very good value. They could also be useful for owners of 5 string violins (an E string would need to be purchased separately).

I'm a fan of Evah Pirazzis for my violin, so thought these would be a safe bet as the first set for my new viola. They give me a rich, powerful sound and I feel the sound is very controllable. However, I will be trying some other brands the next few times I replace strings. These work much better than the Dominant strings that the shop installed, but strings are always a personal thing; what works for me might not be the best on every instrument or for every player. They're quite expensive, but there are some things it's not worth compromising on. Having tried various cheaper sets a few times on my violin I don't have much confidence in the sound I get if I try to economise.
