For this price, the sound is surprisingly good. The bow that came with the cello is of poor quality but does a good job for a beginner. Beginners just need a stick to learn the basics and this one It's build very strong. On low notes, specially free Do string, the cello's leg is vibrating and makes a pretty loud noise. The cello lost a star because of it. The paint chips away, my kid sometimes hits the cello's edges with the metal handle of the bow (not a strong hit) and paints chips away. I could blame this on childhood restlessness. Bottom line: it doesn't sound cheap, sound is reach enough to love the cello and its music. My kid fell in love with the cello the moment he touched it.
