I am a fan of locking tuners simply for the ease and speed of changing strings and last but not least the improved tuning stability. I have choosen these tuners as they are a perfect drop in and no modifications are needed. Another advantage is that with a shaft length to string hole of 20 mm (0,79") the string "break" angle is lower than the original tuners, so another improvement. My Revstar colour is the Sunset Burts, therefor I decided for the black version as this made the headstock look very classy. The price ratio I think is unbeatable considering the quality of these tuners. For me a no brainer and I would buy them anytime again!

The main reason for me to swap the original tuners for the Gotoh Locking tuners is that with locking tuners changing strings is easier and faster. Please note that the tuning stabilty was not a reason for this change, the original tuners were just fine. Experience when installing these tuners are: 1) No changes to the headstock was required 2) Screws were on the same spot as originals, so perfect fit 3) The Gotoh bushes, bore 8.8 mm, are smaller than the existing holes, so I used double sides tape to make bushes fit tightly 4) Shaft length is a little shorter than the original tuners, however this created no issues I am simply a fan of locking tuners, so happy with the change.

I bought these to replace the 6 Grover standard tuners on my Les Paul Studio. I prefer locking tuners on all my electric 6 strings, as the tuning stability is very much improved and string changes are very easy. These ones were a good choice as they were in the cobalt black colour, thus replicating the colour of the old ones. Fitting time was 20 minutes, the original bushes were fine to be used, and the tuners slotted in perfectly. These Gotohs are excellent quality, I also have the same ones in chrome finish on my LP Standard, and they do not add any noticeable extra weight on that you would notice. All in all a worthwhile upgrade because even though my original Studio Grover tuners were only a few months old the tuning stability on this guitar is a lot better with these locking Gotohs.

They look fantastic and are easy to fit due to the selection of backing plates, you shouldn't need to drill new holes, very smooth action, you can feel the different ratio's when you tune up, a little tight at first but they soon settle in. a top quality product, highly recommended.

So, I waited a bit to write a review, first time using this kind of locking tuners with the 90 degree angle. Con : the tips are HUGE Pros : you can unscrew them, which I did, and replaced them with original tuner tips, darker cream plastic, vintage style, so, the guitar did not get aesthetically changed, only got an upgrade to locking tuners. They perform like all other Gotoh locking tuners - perfectly!
