I find this a great little side snare although I know people who use it as a main snare on smaller kits. With the snares on it is very snappy and with them off it makes a cool timbale. I kept the skin very tight for a long time but the other day I loosened it and got a nice, warm and medium depth sound. I found that when using a tighter tension level, the snares were less noticeable. Its all about the high pitched, ringing rim shots with this snare. I prefer it as a side snare as I don't find it deep enough for the music I like to play. Overall a lot of fun and great value for money

Pearl 10"x4,5" Short Fuse Snare -31

This snare is one of the best options if you play snare with your foot, one man band style. The revolution here is that it comes with a clamp specially designed to attach it to the hi hat stand, therefore it's perfect for playing drums with your feet without any extra snare stand, totally solid, it doesn't move at all! Despite being such a light and small snare (only 10"), it sounds just like a regular size snare.

DW PDP 10"x06" Black Wax Snare

One of the very best 10'' snares you can get for that price right now. It has a maple shell and good quality hardware + the magnetic snare strainer feels very luxurious. Sometimes 10'' snares can sound a bit cheap, but not this one! It has a subtle character and it sings like a good instrument should.
