I tend to use Bel Canto G, D and A as they are better for bowing but always use Spirocore for the E string because it has more depth

Great feel. Nice tension. Great quality of finish as always with pirastro. I always used an Oliv E before. This will now replace it full time. A bit thinner and not quite as dark sounding, not as much bloom and fundamental, but for pizz it's better, for slap, not quite as nice, but not far off. Fir the price, great string!

I am a classical musician playing on a Krattenmacher 5-stringer. I have for many years used Eudoxa, but due to lack of availability now have Oliv G, A, E and Eudoxa D, B. Compared to Eudoxa E, the first thing you notice is the greater intensity of sound. The string feels as though you need slightly more weight with the bow, but it also speaks easily, if a little later than the Eudoxa. It is a huge dark sound, less bright and with fewer treble overtones than Eudoxa. It is a deep "purr", but if you want a loud attack it will take the windows out! I have had the string on a week now, and it is starting to develop more colour and any suspicion of wolf notes is disappearing as the instrument settles to the new tension (I think it is about 5lb less than Eudoxa E). While not as beefy as the usual orchestral Spirocore I'm used to it balances excellently with the solo strings I am using downtuned to A, D and G

I love these strings. Great value for money. Only downside?, same as all gut strings; need a little more TLC than steel an tuning is affected by temperature change, ie hot stage lighting. Still highly recommend this product
