Gut-a-Like SwingKing
Set of Strings for Double Bass

Bought to match copper wound E/A to Pirastro EP Slaps for D and G
These took a few days to settle in, but sound really good. A good match to the Gold Slaps I have for the D and G on my 3/4 laminate. Really good fundamental. Great low end punch with good definition from the attack. The windings feel coarse under the finger. Not very conducive to sliding on the string or even adjusting intonation while holding a note. Not as high quality a string as what Pirastro makes. I can see sanding scratches going lengthwise on the copper windings. My A string was really short and I had to get really clever about how to anchor it in the tuner post hole. The windings can come apart easily. The A string is a bit tighter than the E. I may end up buying a set of the Swingmaster strings so that I can try the slightly lower tension round wound A string on there. I have not tried the D and G from the set.
