Startone CG 851 1/2

I bought this for my four year old son as a birthday present. For the price I was not expecting something amazing, and that was fine - it is a first guitar, something that I knew would be taking a few knocks along the way. So I was pleasantly surprised to hear how good this guitar sounds. I do not have much experience with acoustic guitars ( I play bass ) but I like this enough that it makes me want to play it. The small body is perfect for my kid but not so small that it feels like a toy. The Startone is a well built instrument for a great price. A neighbour had bought an acoustic guitar in a toy shop for her daughter and showed it to me - it was a horrible thing, basically formed chipboard. There were sharp bits of wood sticking out everywhere, and the tuners could barely turn. This...
Yamaha CGS102A

Bought for 6y old daughter, to spark her interest in guitar play. She is 121cm tall, and this fits her size perfectly. The guitar itself sounds reasonably well, but loses depth as you move up the frets (expected). My only qualm with this is the tuning, which will only hold for one session. Strings B and G seem to loosen most, the rest stay quite close to tuning. I don't know if this is product specific, or I just got a faulty item. I'm sure this can be fixed, but I don't want the hassle. Doesn't bother me much, because it forces my kid to practice tuning before exercising, and holds long enough for the kid to get bored. Tuning issue aside, this is certainly fit for purpose and very much meets the product description.
Startone CG-851 1/2 Red
Based on 6 reviews
I bought this guitar for my daughter (5) who wanted a red guitar (three chords, and the truth). Before giving it to her on her birthday I had a look and tuned it. What is there not to love? The guitar is finished in a nice matt Red colour. Tuning was easy - strings need a bit of stretching out of the box but it stayed in tune well after that. I've been playing for years and the guitar plays well for a guitar at this price - it's not a toy guitar, it's an instrument. The sound is not going to blow you away but it is fine for learning the first steps. Once again - at this price, you won't get any better. Pros: Nice Red Satin finish, great price! Cons: None so far - if she likes it we can always upgrade but the size looks like she should get 2 -3 years out of this guitar. Did I mention...
Startone CG-851 1/2 Blue
Based on 11 reviews
I have a Baby Taylor to compare this to and this Startone is a nylon string version but with a classical guitar headstock. This guitar was packed with TLC I could tell as I opened the box and the blue finish is flawless. The guitar needs a bit of time to acclimatize to its new surroundings and the strings needed to be tuned a few times but seem to stay in tune. I love this guitar and am considering a red one next. I am older so a smaller 1/2 size guitar is easier on my hands and the nylon strings on my fingers. I wish it had a pick up. Dont hesitate over quality concerns or price! harrygrant.io
