Harley Benton CST-24T Black Flame Reviews
Great guitar
Great guitar for the money, barely any set up to get it to my liking… well worth the money
Amazing for the price, could use a couple improvements
Pros:
The main feature of most inexpensive guitars is that the pickups suck, and the first order of business is to replace them.
For the price of this guitar, the pickups are fantastic. They have a good balance of range, warmth, and clarity. They might not compete with top of the line pickups, but they sound GOOD.
The coil split gives a lot of diversity.
The neck and fretboard of this guitar are a pleasure to play.
Tuning heads and nut are decent quality
Cons:
The Wilkinson trem isn't the greatest. The curved top of the body doesn't mix well with the trem, and you end up having to jack the saddles way up at an angle in order to get everything to sit right, which makes everything slightly awkward. I'd opt for the hard tail next time for this model.
The flame maple top on mine is pretty dull. Does not compare to the photos, which is a bit disappointing.
Love this Guitar
I really love this guitar. Ive been playing it for a good while now and I think it plays fantastic. Really no complaints. It is super versatile and I haven't upgraded anything on it except the tuners, and I have done that to most of my guitars because I like locking tuners, but that is really a creature comfort.
Bought the CST24 as a Christmas gift for my son. Overall the guitar is very good. The neck setup could be better, but at this price range it is playable and has no buzzing or snagging. The body is well finished but has a few lacquer high spots, but again, for this price range it is a minor point. The one thing about the guitar that I found annoying was how dirty the neck and strings were. We had to change the strings and clean the neck and frets almost straight away. My sons fingers were black after about an hour of playing. Realistically though, a minor point. I only mention it so that other buyers know what to expect. The Roswell pickups are great! I prefer these to some higher end units in more expensive guitars. The neck has a good feel. This is a guitar that has good tone and plays well. Would I buy one for myself? Absolutely, without hesitation.
My new go-to guitar
The 'black flame' finish is not quite as pretty as the picture but for the price, I don't think you will be disappointed. It plays great. Floated trem a bit and it's stable.
Thinking it would take at least three weeks to receive this guitar, I ordered it Friday night 8/28/20 and it was at my house when I got home from work the next Wednesday evening (from Germany to South Mississippi, USA. WOW! This guitar is much more than I was expecting. There is not a blemish on it... its put together well and feels and plays great. Im putting an order in for another one tonight. Thanks for a good experience.
Love it. What a great guitar.
Fit and finish is great for the price. Set up was good out of the box. Sounds great. Seems like a much more expensive guitar.
Great cheap guitar
Pros:
-Sound is pretty awesome for the price. Nice hot-sounding rock guitar with useful features at this price.
-Love the slim neck and fast action (without any fret buzz) that it came set up with.
Cons:
-The flame top was far more subtle than the photos on the website. I suspect there's a wide range that comes off the line, and perhaps other colours would show it better, but I was hoping for more.
-One of the tuners is slightly askew, and one of the others is EXTREMELY tight. I have to Hulk out just to make a quarter turn. I've ordered some replacement locking tuners from elsewhere, so I'm up for the $50 it cost me for the replacement tuners at this stage.
-Forget about staying in tune if you're using the trem arm. I blocked it for now until I decide whether to upgrade the nut (in case that fixes the issue).
Other than the issues highlighted above, the setup was great out of the box (making it all the way to Sydney). Needed tuning, then it was ready to sing!
Pleasantly Surprised!
After finding a few reviews online and seeing the noise surrounding Harley Benton Guitars. I was very curious to see for myself what they were like. I was not disappointed.
Ordering the item was a breeze and was delivered in less than a week to Canada! After opening the box and removing the covering. I was quite blown away by the very beautiful flame top. After inspecting the guitar, there was no issues to be found with fret work, finish, joints, or even loose parts (knobs, switches and jack) that I often find with in store bought items (PRS, Epiphone and so forth). The guitar was even in tune and intonation was perfect! A bonus in my books!
The sound of the Rosswell Pickups have a unique vibe. Lots of output to push genres from blues to various metal tones. But not too harsh where it loses clarity and response. And the coil split adds a extra variety to the sound.
Overall the guitar is well above expectation and honestly, I prefer it over the feel of many of the PRS SE models. And I have owned a few!
I will be certainly be looking forward to my next HB purchase.
Best Value for money guitar.
For the price its the best you can get!!
After reading a lot of reviews and videos on you tube decide to buy this.
great for all levels of musicians just a fun guitar to have
arrived perfectly no damages.
had to just tune and it was ready to go!!!
Excellent guitar. Just buy it !
I am a professional guitarist and guitar teacher. This is an excellent guitar every bit as good as a PRS. I bought this guitar because I prefer the sound of the Roswell bridge pickup over the PRS, and because the split coil sounds are more usable, plus of course the price!
The guitar came perfectly set up and in tune. The tremolo was hard tailed, but I prefer the trem to be able to go a half step up, so I slackened off the screws. This was made easier by some slits cut into the back plate. I also tightened the tremolo arm slightly. This is done using the small allen key supplied - the screw can be found by pushing down the tremelo and its on the right hand side. The supplied tuners were perfectly ok, although I swapped them for some locking tuners as I use the trem a fair bit. Vanson make a set that are a perfect fit, even the screw holes line up. Stability is very good. The nut is graphite and correctly cut. Frets were perfectly flat and checked with a fret rocker. This is an excellent guitar and I'll be using it live!
Awesome!
I absolutely love this guitar. I just ordered my second one in Ocean Blue Flame.
A nice surprise
This guitar surprised me, the quality build and playability were outstanding for an affordable price. I have had high end guitars that didn't play quite as good. I would recommend this to any guitarist, from beginner, intermediate or professional. I will be gigging with this guitar in the future.
When you need a first guitar
Pros
From far away it's a beautiful guitar
Cons
The totally blind quality control.
The distance from the 6th string to the neck is ~ 6mm, which makes playing the guitar uncomfortable. At the same time, the strings are noisy at all frets from the 6th to 24th.
When playing, the springs create additional sounds.
There are a lot of problems with the quality of the finish on the guitar: smudges of varnish, curve painting, paint on frets.
The noise from the humbuckers is similar to my telecast with single pickups.
I took the guitar to a master for finishing, and unfortunately, a miracle did not happen. He made an additional shielding from noise, pierced frets to get rid of ringing noise, but ... more or less the same issues.
In general, the main purpose of a guitar is to play music. This guitar out of the box does not allow you to enjoy this opportunity.
If this is your first guitar - everything is OK, but if you had more or less good guitars in the past - do not make my mistakes because of the positive reviews on YouTube.
UPD: Depending on the weather, the guitar changes its geometry. When wet, the strings lower and do not produce sound. I lift them, then it gets drier and they are too high =)
This is probably my worst guitar ever.
Dang
For a $200 guitar, I was expecting less than standard. But everything is great, the finish, the build, the sound. Really excellent.
Neck issues
This guitar has dead frets. The third and 16th fret are high. Anything past the 12th fret has no sustain. The nut was installed at an angle so I had that replaced. I've had the truss rod adjusted thinking that maybe it the dead frets was that. I decided to have a look down the next and there's a slight twist in the neck. It's pretty much unplayable unless the action is set way too high and that's only true through the 12th fret. Beyond that it just buzzes out. I have 4 other Harley Bentons and they are fantastic. This one was just a lemon.
LOVE IT!
This is my second CST-24. Thrilling, yet again.
Neck and frets are great, flawless finish, beautiful flamed top WOW! Aggressive dives on the bar knocked a few strings out of tune, so a few minutes of filing the nut slots fixed that easy.
Tuning keys would be the only thing I would upgrade to locking Sperzels.
Superb instrument
Firstly let me start by saying that I've had both good and bad experiences with Harley Benton. On the one hand I have a 00 acoustic and I love it. On the other I briefly had a vintage style st copy and I didn't get on with that at all. It had some faulty wiring and hardware.
This instrument is flawless. On unboxing and visual inspection the instrument is beautiful, and everything is immaculate. The finish of the bindings and veneers are perfect. Frets are smooth and even. Everything is perfect.
In the hand, the guitar feels light and comfortable, the neck is not super thin, but not fat either. About the same as my Epiphone Les Paul std.
The hardware is all solid. Nice accurate tuners. Solid wilkinson bridge which is easy to adjust the action with, and it goes pretty low without any fret buzz. I don't use a tremolo, so I won't judge that.
In playability, again I'm nicely impressed. I usually use 9 gauge strings, and this came with 10 gauge and I left them on, because it' so nice to play already. I've never done this with a new guitar.
The sounds is really nice. The roswell pickups are pretty quiet and responsive. think and present in normal mode and satisfying clucky and sparkly with the coil split.
OK I'm astounded. This is better than all my other guitars that cost at least twice as much. I was dithering between this guitar and a higher end PRS SE for about 900 euros. I went for this thinking that I could always send it back and then go for the PRS SE if I wasn't happy. Well I can tell you I would still have been happy had I payed 900 for this one! I'm ecstatic that I only paid 220!
I'm now trying to think of a bad point for this guitar, and I genuinely cant. This is truly exceptional Harley Benton! Thank you.
Prs user rates a CST-24T
I have a limited edition Mcccarty rosewood PRS and am quite frankly impressed with the cost and playability of this guitar. Is the finish the same quality as the PRS? No, but its also 1/10 th the price! The feel of the neck is very close and the playability is similar. The neck on the PRS smells like cut grass and its very smooth, a pleasure to play.BUT taking it on a outing to the local bar to play always fills me with dread. The Harley B is a great guitar that you can use as a beginner guitar or for a local gig that wont cause you concern. It is like 75% of a PRS for 10% of the price!
I did order a bass and this instrument and although this one came in flawless, the other one was damaged in shipping.
Use
It is mainly used in churches and for recording purposes.
Clarity
The design is neat. So I feel better when I see it.
pros & cons
High and low notes have good balance.
The spacing of flats is adequate.
What I like most of all is that neck is good for my hands.
The tuning is generally satisfactory.
The line was rusty.
When I play the guitar, I get black on my hand.
It looks like it's coming out of the neck.
I want to change my guitar, but I can't because it's far away.
The border color is rustic in terms of design.
I wish the switch was between the volume and the tone.
Further information
You guys seem to be counting the dates except for holidays when you send them.
But Asian countries, especially Korea, include holidays.
I bought it because it is not well-known in Korea.
Actually, my major is vocal music.
So I know a little about Germany.
I trust the products of Germany.
I will look forward to your product in the future.
