Amazing Quality

I have owned this guitar for about a year now and I still love it. Equipment level is excellent, setup was excellent, sound is excellent and playability is brilliant. I have several guitars in my collection and this guitar is easily the most affordable.

And this one is the guitar I enjoy playing the most!

The Roswell P-90 is a snarling tone machine. I originally intended to get a Lollar replacement but there is no need. This pup does everything I ask of it.

In conclusion this guitar is an asset in any collection. It holds its own in the company of my Gibson, MusicMan,PRS and is usually my go to guitar.

Highly recommended.

WTF?

I originally bought a guitar out of curiosity (I didn't have a P-90 equipped guitar yet). Can´t believe this guitar is for 199 EUR only. Really good made, neck profile near to my LP Custom, pickup very nice sounding Alnico 5, perfect fret job, no chinese building timber...

Donť forget set the guitar first, truss rod was fully loose and works very fine, do not overtighten (hex wrench is included)! This was the only setting that should be done.

Weak points:

Nut (zero fret) looks like strange material, will be replaced for bone soon.

Bridge can´t go low enough, saddles shoud be cca 1-2 mm lower to let set action less than 3 mm (for many players maybe O.K., but I like action little lower) - result: pickup to strings distance gets more than 5 mm, so I gave there a washer ring. Original Gibson LP Junior Tribute has got the same problem:-)

All in all, perfectly sounding and playing instrument for that money, comparable to another my much more expensive guitars!

Light weight and balanced. Fun and fast slim neck might be a deal breaker for the vintage traditionalist but I personally like the modern playability. The p90 is weak and i suggest replacing it and the bridge.

Junior Double Cut P90

Ater watching numerouse reviews by endorsed reviewers i had to have one. The over quality is excellant above my expectations for a guitar at this price point. The intonation needed tweaking a little. The string heights at the nut where perfect . The neck relief was set up well. I had to raise the P90 pickup to get the sizzle i like . Door to door i paid $326.53 cdn .The guitar plays well above its price point its a joy to play. I love the tone of a single pick up its raw and fresh. I would deffinatley by this guitar again.

Cannot find a fault at all with Colonel Mustard.

To be honest, I was a bit wary when ordering this guitar. I was looking for a straightforward rock guitar that allowed me to play some blues as well: I wanna be your dog-type-of-thing, but also some Hendrix and SRV without bother of having to nitpick with pickups, pedals etc. When I received the package, at first glance there was nothing to give a remark on. Frets, neck, paintjob all looked excellent. I was worried about the quality of the tuners though, because at first a small bend of the high E was enough to push it way out of tune. I considered sending it back at that moment, but the day afterwards and ever since it stays in tune rather well. In the meantime, I played it quite a lot and I like it. Last week I played on a Gibson SG and to be honest value wise, the HB gives you much more bang for your buck. I looked, pretty intensively, and couldn’t find a fault at all - so happy customer here and I will buy HB again. Colonel Mustard has a lead pipe and he’s killing it !

Great P90 Double Cut

This guitar is a great single pickup P90 guitar. It is great for old school rock, blues, and pop punk. The finish on the one I received is great and the stock P90 has some good snarl, I may need to go play it again when I am done typing this up. It is nice and light too. I put four stars on sound, probably because I am starting to spiral out of control with the whole boutique pickup scene, so dumb, the crowd just wants to party and dance right!?

Nice guitar

Nice guitar but let down by pickup height and very shoddy nut placement.

The single pick up was no where near as close to the strings and sounded weak. Needed raising up. I didn’t bother and moved this on. However don’t let this put you off plenty of good reviews out there, I think this was a one off. Since I have purchased four HB guitars one sc 550 + emgs is the best guitar I have ever owned and stays in tune for months. The other three are on the way.

Beware

Long story short..Everything is ok on this guitar - except...

PICKUP (you know, black litlle thing primarily responsible for YOUR sound.

It has two BIG flaws:

1.It can't be adjusted,up or down (and when you raise your bridge sound becomes unfocused and weak

2.it sound like telecaster pickup (don't get me wrong I love telecaster sound, but on this one I wanted classic P90 growl - not even in same neighbourhood).

Replacement pickup is a must.

What a bargain!

This guitar man.. Play so well and is so fun to own! Sounds really good (can upgrade pickup but for this price can't complain cause you get very decent tones!), plays smoothly and feels great. Also has good tuning stability. If you are thinking about it, go grab one you won't regret it!!

Junior price, killer guitar

Look. It’s an LPJ. Wanna sound like Keith Richards for this price? This is your machine.

Made beautifully. Maybe pickup needs a shim, but at this price I couldn’t possibly complain.

Sounds like a beast, plays like a beast.

Amazing for The Price

You're getting more than a €200 guitar by spending €200.

I bought this guitar expecting it to be a nice guitar, that I would need to put work into in order to get it sounding and playing how I wanted it to. I removed it from the box, tuned it up and plugged it in and I was blown away. So playable right out of the box that I recorded with it that night.

Firstly, the playability of this instrument is something I was not expecting. It seriously does not correspond to the price that I paid. And that same sentiment can be said about the sound and feel and overall quality of this instrument.

It's not going to rival a Gibson Junior by any stretch of the imagination but for a solid guitar with a gorgeous sound that's easy to play?? This is well worth the money.

Excellent guitar

Bought this as the base for a project that I was going to start but the guitar sounds so good I might not bother and just keep her how she is. Set up out of the box is pretty good, action is a bit high at the 12th but nothing that can't easily sorted. Would definitely recommend

Nice not expensive guitar

I really love this guitar. I never had any guitar with 628mm scale length, and I must say I got to love it for that. I play mostly jazz, but really want to play some rock stuff sometimes, and wanted to have a guitar that can do that. Of course, for the versatility, I would like to see a neck pickup also on this guitar, so I could play even jazz on it. I think it should sound good, as it seems to have a less brighter sound than other guitars, with maple caps. First I thought I would get it to a luthier to get it routed for a neck pickup, but then I started reading about the way Junior type of guitars connect to the body, and realized that modding it could make the neck not stand the pressure and ruin the guitar. Especially if I would like to have some 11s strings on it. So I guess I would buy an another Harley Benton Special Double Cut TV Yellow with 2 P90, if they decide to make one. Until then I am enjoying this one.

The guitar came setup really well. I measured all the specs, and it came close to what Gibson recommends for it's solid body guitars. As I own it already, for almost a year, I got the chance to make some weather influenced adjustments of the truss rod, and it holds up really well.

Tuners - not the best for staying in tune, but still ok.

Love the color. It's not the TV Yellow as you would expect on classic guitars, but I think I like it better, this mustard yellow.

Still, you should know that the fretboard is stained. They made it so, to look close to black. And the stain they used gets on your fingers after you play it, but can be easily washed away. Eventually it goes away, after several weeks/months (depends on how often you play it). But no big deal, I can live with that, for the price ))

I must say I'm really impressed with the quality you get for this price, and I mean mainly for playability. Good job HB!

fantastic

I have many expensive guitars and this one stacks up perfectly against them. I used it recently and it performed flawlessly, its a beast of a guitar for the price point and i will be ordering the red because i love it so much.

love this guitar

Plays great right out of the box. First single pickup guitar I've owned and I like it. Great for 60s/70s sounds. Fun and inspiring to play. Quality is really good considering the price. Frets dressed nicely with no sharp ends. The nut was cut a little rough, but doesn't seem to keep the strings from staying in tune. Had a little fret buzz on the lower to strings, but q quick tweak to the bridge resolved that.

This is my second H-B guitar and I'm very tempted to buy more.

My new favourite guitar.

This is the least expensive (I won't say cheap because it doesn't feel cheap) guitar I have but it's the most fun to play.

You don't need all those knobs and switches. Just the tone and volume which by the way are really responsive. I've played the genuine Gibson version of this and to be honest I prefer the HB.

Excellent Harley Benton DC Junior

My first Harley Benton, TV Yellow, and straight out of the box the intonation was perfect and the fit and finish faultless.

Frets and fingerboard were finished well and look superb.

The only adjustment I made was to raise the treble end of the bridge about a half millimeter as the action was a tad low for me.

The Roswell P90 has a surprising tone range from muted jazzy sounds to all out crunch.

My other recent purchase is a Squier Contemporary Tele and this DC Junior is certainly equal to it in tone and playabilty, but is a hundred pounds cheaper.

I've been playing guitar for 60 years, almost exclusively Fenders, but I'm an HB convert. This may be my first one, but it won't be the last.

Nice choice for P90

If you are looking for a guitar with P90 pickup to try out, this one is a perfect choice. Easy to play and quite small but the head always falls down by the balance of guitar, that's the one should be careful for accident.

Wow... just wow!

I have been eyeing one of these DC-Juniors for months and pulled the trigger this past weekend. Not only did it deliver to Southern California all the way from Germany in record time, it did so in mint condition thanks to good packing and handling. I am grateful.

This is a quality instrument made by people who care about making quality instruments. I have played a lot of the big named guitars and some no names and never in my 25 years of guitar playing have I found a top-level price/performance/quality instrument like this one is right out of the BOX! I cannot describe how pleasing it is to hold and play, the balance, all of it!

Now to convince my wife that I could use a couple more for different setups and considering I can get three of these for the price of a high-end Squire, I don't think she'll complain. WELL DONE HB!!!!
