METAL!
So, I just bought this guitar and I am blown away! The look, the feel, the weight, the sound. It is a powerful axe. I love it so much. This thing has gotten so many likes on instagram, and everyone is calling me little Hetfield haha. It is a true Metallica tribute and I plan on buying the black one too! Buy this when in stock, it is clean.
Good but need works
Sound is great but needs a lot work on it.
A solid, lefthanded Explorer I don't have to sacrifice my firstborn for? Sign me up!
So, let me start by saying I'm a Harley Benton fan, especially since they're really good for the buck AND have a wide selection of left-handed guitars, which is not that frequent. I originally wanted this with the EMG pickups but they told me it's gonna be a while, so I figured if I really wanna go with EMG's, I'll just buy and replace down the road. The Roswells don't sound that much different in a mix situation anyway.
So I've had the EX-48LH for some time now and I must say I really like it. I really don't see myself ever buying a different Explorer, except if I'll want sets with different pickups etc. The frets are even and nice (a bit high for me but that's just personal preference), the neck is straight, the locking tuners hold like crazy, the pots are nice and stable... The only bad thing I can say about this guitar is not about HB, but about the general Explorer issue of neckdive.
SERIOUSLY, THIS DESIGN HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 1958 AND NOBODY FIGURED OUT TO PUT THE FRONT STRAP BOLT AT THE BACK OF THE NECKJOINT BY DEFAULT YET?!
Other than that, I can imagine you getting a better Explorer-shaped guitar for that buck. Not sure if YT links are allowed, but you can listen to a short demo of it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nfy73rYx2dE
