Amazing Power Amp

Harley Benton GPA 100 an excellent power amp for an incredible price.

The EQ controls I'm guessing are active because the frequency range is big. The amp is really quiet and provides a very usable sound with a guitar straight in, but it really needs a preamp to lift the volume, I'm using a Tech 21. It doesn't compete with the Seymour Duncan regards power output but has a far better tone. Great for home and studio use. For live gigs would probably struggle for anything larger than a medium sized pub.

It does what it is supposed to at an unprecedented form factor and price!

This thing makes my guitar go louder at a fraction of the cost of a rackmounted power amp. And a fraction of its weight. No, seriously, I just put it in my backpack and I'm all set. Does it sound as good as my butique, tube power amp? I don't care - it seems transparent to me and it doesn't weigh like 20 kg. Absolute gamechanger for touring with a digital FX unit.

Tinitus on a Budget

Was searching for a discreetly-sized, emergency back-up power amp in case my live rig died on the road. It can (and does) happen and can be a gateway to a realm of nightmares.

The price initially made made laugh, but when something is that cheap you really have nothing to lose so I took a gamble. Believe me, I won.

A solid unit with metal chassis, incredibly simple to use, and thankfully NO WALL-WART.

The sound is transparent enough in a serious live situation for no-one, not even you, to notice you're essentially playing by the grace of a glossy, black brick...unless you want to mess with the provided low-mid-treble dials which can certainly add some character. I leave them at 12 and dial on my pre-amp though.

Anyone who says this runs "quiet" is using it wrong, or needs a hearing aid: it easily keeps up with my Mesa Boogie Roadster. Read the instructions.

As it stands, I am considering ditching my over-priced, over-weight valve amps to use this exclusively on the road. I could carry an extra 3 in a tote bag and keep my back, wallet and pride intact when the "real" thing fails.

Beyond impressed. I'm going to buy a couple more eventually.

Awesome pedal sized amp for digital preamps

Great and well made lightweight power amp. Plenty of power for life gig, nice and narrow respond. You can not expect to get tonal quality of valve power amp. But with digitals like Kemper of Fractal (using it with AX8) and real cab, you get best of it with as very good portable solution fintting into one pedalboard as complete solution which in my case sounds absolutely beast. Finetuning posilities are also nice. As said, I am very happy with it.

The Best Cheap Power Amp?

I use this to power my HX Stomp into a 1x12 or 2x10 cab for jam nights and rehearsals.

As a power amp it doesn't respond like a tube power amp. Its response is more linear. The Fryette PowerStation in that respect is a far superior product. But, if you're starting out in the modelling world and want a cheap and cheerful power amp, then I can wholeheartedly recommend the GPA-100. The tone controls are effective for fine tuning your tone and it's compact enough to chuck into your gig bag.

Would I buy it over the Seymour Duncan PowerStage? Yes.

Low price, compact size, high quality.

Pros: Compact size for a power amp with IEC 220v socket. 3 tone knobs are very effective and there's plenty of volume for live gigs (I use Hx stomp amp sim).

Cons: not much. Just don't expect a 100w tube amp sound.

Good for players who use pedal preamps/Hx stomp and need an additional power amp to carry around.

It's great not only as a backup solution

I tried this power amp yesterday with a digital guitar modeller using some high gain tones as a preamp and everything sounded great.

It's abslolutely clean and noiseless and the EQ is good.

It's almost as small as a stompbox pedal and it fits perfectly in your pedalboard.

I'm going to use it as a backup power amp for live shows and as a primary power amp for rehearsals.
