Great guitar, would recommend!

Inspired by bands such as Big Star and Amon Düül ii, I was looking at buying a 12 string guitar for my birthday, at an affordable price (not an easy thing to find). This is my first Harley Benton guitar, I am amazed by the high quality and great sound for such a low price! I have listed the pros and cons below.

PROS:

- Classic 12 string sound, sounds amazing both plugged and unplugged

- Nice glossy finish, beautiful instrument

- Lightweight and still has a solid feel to it

- Action level is perfect

CONS:

- Strings break easily, the high G broke on my first time playing it. Luckily I got it in a bundle, so had a spare set of HB strings, and would recommend getting an extra set of strings when buying it

- Large distance between paired strings near the saddle (though I also fixed this after re-stringing)

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this instrument, I'd highly recommend it! My first Harley Benton, and definitely not my last!

EDIT: recently, I filed down the fret ends (which were sharp in a few places), and also added ebony pins, to replace the plastic ones. The plastic pins were of very low quality and did not last long, I'd suggest buying some ebony pins... much better quality, and even look better on the ebony bridge!

Good value 22 string accoustic

I ordered this guitar to add a 12 string accoustic to my collection. I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a guitar I was not going to use a lot so decided on the HB D 200CE 12 NT. knowing it was in the budget price range I was not expecting perfection but I was pleasantly surprised with it when it arrived. There were no blemishes and it looked good. However the strings were nowhere near tuned up, so the first thing was to tune it. The g string snapped before reaching the correct pitch so I had to get a fine g string from a spare set I had to finish it off with. I then strummed the guitar and I have to say that it sounded good. Better than I expected. However, on the downside, the fret ends were very sharp and definitely need smoothing off, plus the pickup wiring inside the body is loose a rattles when the guitar is moved. Despite these two issues, the guitar is very good value for money.and I would recommend it for a player who doesn’t want to splash out a lot more. I think it would mean splashing out a lot more money to get a noticeable difference.

Fantastic value for money

I bought this just to enjoy the sound of a 12-string guitar, having tried one in a shop for 600 Euros. I am only an amateur, and I am not a guitar freak, but I know value for money when I see it and this is superb value for money. Looks and sounds gorgeous.

OK gitar

Kjøpte kun for å ha 12 strenger å øve på hjemme. Billig og fungerer fint. Mitt eksemplar har litt "trege", upresise stemmeskruer, men det regnet jeg nesten med til den prisen. Helt OK kjøp.

Very Happy,

This is my Grandsons very first purchase, and he was super excited when this Instrument came in. A new Challenge to Play 12 String, and is taking it on head on. After carful Review of this Instrument, A great Price point, and surely a Fret Dressing is not out of expectation. Although this instrument was in immediate need of Repair. The Frets are so jagged, that my Grandson cut himself on the Fret Edges, and did not say anything. He though it was to be expected. Very Bad Finish Product.

Brilliant buy

This was my first acoustic Harley Benton guitar and being a 12 string at less than £100 pounds I did not expect a great deal , was I wrong , what a bargain , well made , good sound , low action no buzzing , well finished neck no sharp fret ends , stays in tune well , have not plugged it in so can’t say about the p/up , well happy with this guitar ,

It's an ok guitar

It's sounds ok and it plays ok. I bought a cheap string set and the high G broke after 2 days... I don't like to record it directly with the jack, I just use a mic

Nice Acoustic

The only reason I gave this four stars is because of the tuners. I just don't care for them-they don't have a tight feel to them. That is the only thing I would or will change. I would buy this guitar again.

Amazing value Great sound! Harley Benton at it again!

Awesome 12 string guitar for this pricepoint!

I made a review with some of my opinions and playing demo's on youtube for it! Just search for Harley Benton D-200CE-12NT and my usernamer DAAN. :)

If you are looking for a cheap 12 string this thing provides a killer solution!!!

The guitar was bought to be used in non professional gigs with friends and play at home. It is perfect for it. The sound, plugged or unplugged is very good indeed. The finish was surprisingly very good and no flaws were found. Like most steel strings guitars, the action was too high , so you I had to sand down the bridge a little (about 1,5mm). The guitar stays in tune for a long time, so no problems with that. So, good hardware, good electronics, good finish... what's there not to like? This is a perfect guitar for me, an amateur musician. I've had another pricier guitars that weren't as good a this one. I am very happy with it.

Alright but not brilliant

Thought it a little chunky in build though it looks nice and sound is good. Bought it for pub jams where i would not want to take a $2000 guitar. A couple of finish issues but this is a very inexpensive instrument...to be expected. The wood in the top bout was not flat but not enough to make me want to return it. Wood grain was absolutely huge, strange but an interesting visual feature.

Very happy but...

I like everything about it except one thing. The first impression that it gave me was not very promising. Why? The fretboard looked like someone spilled white chalk all over it. It was easily resolved with a soft cloth but it's not the first thing you want to see when you unwrap a new instrument. Someone should be tuning and inspecting the product before it is packed in the box for shipment.

Best for first 12strting

The guitar sounds very very good, i did'nt expect that. I really suprised from the sound of the pickup on a mixer. It is very nice for recordings. The quality of the materials is low, that's why the price.

The model has changed in 2018 and it's not look like as the picture, but the new one is very nice too. I suggest this guitar to everyone that wants to buy a 12 string for the first time. I'd like to have an allready installed tuner on the guitar because it really need but anyway... I use standard tuning with a little graphite on the bone and none of the strings don't broke.

GREAT, especially for beginners!!

This is an amazing guitar. Very nice look and feel, nice quality and the sound is extremely fat and complete, with a very good sustain with or without plug in. I really appreciate the work of the manufacturer. It's a great and cheap 12-string guitar and appropriate for beginners who want to start play a 12-string guitar

The only thing that I would like to mention is that the tuners are a bit small comparing to those of a electric guitar, but as they fit greatly with the guitar look you won't even care about them

OVERALL: great choice!

Value For Money Guitar!

I've been looking for a 12-string for a while now. Always been in a store and played here and there on different models of all sorts of manufacturers. I did not really get warm with many, or they just were not in the budget. With the Harley Benton I got on nice features, great playability, top strings, just great. The pickup is good, although I play without amp most of the time anyway. The workmanship is impeccable and absolutely awesome for this price and rather suggests an instrument from other price regions.

For the price in my opinion is the best choice.

Lovely 12-String

Hadn't ever bought or even played a 12-String before, but decided this one was worth buying being so cheap. It was fantastic!

Don't think I've ever bought anything at nearly as reasonable a price, which has turned out to be of such high quality.

However, I couldn't say whether this is as good as other 12-Strings at a higher price - since I've never played any - but I can say with some certainty that I'm very happy with the quality and value of this guitar.

The sound is lovely and the electronics are of a very good quality, working well through an amp or a P.A.

Would recommend getting new strings, however, to give it that extra quality.

Bargain of the year. A fantastic instrument for peanuts.

I LOVE this guitar.

For $110 US, I confess I had very low expectations. Really just added this to a larger order on a whim, to get the most out of the flat-rate shipping, but this is easily the best money I've spend on an instrument in years.

Out of the box, it played perfectly. Good quality strings (that in itself was shocking at this price point), the action is good and instantly playable. It has a rich, full, loud sound that's really hard to believe for the money. The tone is fantastic, with no tweaking other than tuning up. If I'd picked this guitar up in a store and tried it out, I would have expected to pay five or six times as much, and that would be on a good sale day.

Electronics are good, and they even included a 9V battery.

I really can't say enough about this guitar. I've had a very hard time putting it down since it arrived. Only feature I'd like to see that it doesn't have is a strap pin at the neck joint, but that's a quibble. An amazing value.
