Harley Benton HBJ-25 Reviews
banjo
its a great starter banjo, the finish of the banjo is really nice strong not cheap feeling. would recommend.
Fantastic Value
Everything about this Banjo is great, I bought it for my daughter as a first banjo for her to learn on. I was sceptical about the price as it was the cheapest, however as it is made by the same company that amde by Ukulele I thought I would give it a go. I'm so glad I bought it - the construction is solid and appears very well made with a lovely finish that makes it look like a banjo of twice the price. Easy to tune and it stays in tune with the geared tuning pegs, Sounds fantastic, and has a good action so all basic / beginners chords are easy to play. I would highly recommend this Banjo!
Great beginner banjo
I've had this banjo for about 6 months and have been very happy with it. It arrived ready to play and was packed very securely for shipping. The banjo is a fantastic value for a beginning player. I don't think you'll find a comparable banjo for this price anywhere else. The only negative I've found is that the strap connectors didn't seem that secure, but I use a strap type that goes right through the lugs so no problem. Of course you could spend several hundred more for a higher quality banjo but if you're just starting out this is great for a beginner.
Impressive
I cannot fault this instrument at all. At this price I was expecting it to be noticeably lower quality than it is, but there are no sharp fret ends, there are no blemishes on the finish, the tuners are not cheap and nasty and hold the tuning very well, the head (a remo) has a nice and crisp response, it is well balanced and has a nice mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard. The action was a little high when it arrived, but a quick adjustment sorted that - tools for the trussrod and tuning the skin are provided, and there is loads of info on the internet on how to do this.
first time
Very good quality for the price which is unbelievable for this instrument ive seen shoddier looking gear aat treble the price. Well done !!

Absolutely brilliant, Christmas present for hubby and I am sure he will love I had looked at second hand ones but this new one was cheaper and looks excellent to me Thank you so much
Amazing value; at entry level you can't go wrong.
Just starting off on the banjo scene I didn't want to spend a small fortune till I could master the basics. I looked at several entry level banjos and the Harley Benton was a winner in its class. The build quality is excellent and it just doesn't look or sound like a cheap bit of kit. It is very hard to fault and I don't know how they do it for the price. The only problem is that I have stubby fingers and find the narrow neck (30 mm nut) a tad small for my fretting hand. Other than that I am very pleased with my purchase. If your just starting out and on a tight budget look no further. Shipping is also first class.
Good for a beginner
I bought this banjo because I wanted to learn to play the banjo. It is a 5 string model. I have no real base to compare it to a high-level one, so just a few comments from my side:
- from quality point of view: for me it seems to be well assembled, didn't find any screws not tightened, skin is well fitted. The neck is comfortable for me, frets are well made, no disadvantages from quality point of view. This is not a high level instrument, but compared to price tag it is well done
- sound: I tried it miking up in my studio. Compared to mainstream recordings, it has a bit thin sound lacking of highs, but is very usable
It is really a good instrument in its category, highly recommended.
Excellent Quality for a small price
Really good buy, worth getting, especially if your a guitarist wishing to expand. The quality is so good, I think this is one of my best instruments even compared to my vintage Washburn acoustic. Only criticism is that the screw attaching the arm rest is of an odd square shape, so I can only adjust it with my hands, so its not very secure. If you have any doubt about buying this, just go for it!
new to banjo
having played guitar for many years I wanted to try Banjo but I didn't want to pay over the odds for one so I plumped for this one. Considering the price the quality is excellent and I am extremely happy with it. I wasn't sure whether to go for a 6 string or 5 string being a guitar player but I made the right choice in a 5 string. If your starting out or just want a Banjo for fun you won't go wrong here
Value for money instrument
pretty good with the right adjustments for practice at home or small gigs.
Fantastic Value
I've given this such high ratings because for the value I believe you would have to pay twice as much for a banjo of comparable quality.

PERFECT EVEN FOR A LEARNER
I play guitar, (sort of!) and decided I would like to learn banjo. I have to say that I am absolutely delighted with this instrument and have surprised myself with my ability to play it, (sort of!). As a direct result of the quality of the banjo and the sellers service, I have today, placed a further order for an electric guitar. A1+++
