Harley Benton ST-20 BK Standard Series Reviews
Great
I was not expecting this quality for this price. My son is a beginner he liked it also. I advice you to buy.
ST-20
Super guitar - low check
At This Price Point You Can't Go Wrong
Pros: (remember the price point of this guitar)
- It actually plays well
- It feels like a real guitar (j/k it is a real guitar)
- It sounds nice
- It looks great
Cons:
- The tuning machines are a bit wonky (I'll replace them soon)
- The strings are a bit sketchy (I'll replace them when the new tuners get here)
- It won't sweep the floor for me
Conclusion:
Overall, I could recommend this guitar to just about anyone for various reasons, such as, having a guitar that didn't cost a whole lot of money for a "partscaster", or just to carry around without worrying about damage as you would with a much more expensive guitar. This would also make an excellent starter guitar (I'll be getting one for my grandson when I feel like he's graduated from the acoustic I gave him). For the price, you really can't go wrong with this instrument.
Additional Thoughts:
I read through other reviews, and ordered new tuning machines, and an output jack, I won't need the output jack for this one, but I will need the new tuners.
Best guitar for that price
Guitar has great sound, tremolo arm and looks stylish. Crafted from good materials. The cable comes with the guitar. It's a best choice for begginers!
Nice one
I'm a keyboardist and I'm a beginner in guitar and this guitar is perfect for me. The sound is quite good but not a i have expected as i have tried many other electric guitars. Overall i can give a 4 ⭐
Very good guitar
As this is my beginner guitar, It has been going perfect and really good. I recommend this guitar and its very good
Disappointed
Bought this a while ago. It looks ok - very Stat-like. Sound is not very rich even with effects through a Boss Katana amp.
Bridge is very stiff and springs are almost unbendable so as to release the bridge. The tremolo is therefore unusable. Even with a setup and new strings, I cannot get this to stay in tune. Intonation is not good and I also have a lot of fret buzz despite the setup.
I know it’s a budget guitar but I had hoped for something playable. It’s not worth spending more money on it as it would cost more than the purchase price.
This i suppose is in the category of “get what you pay for”.
Good modding platform
Look lets be honest, its a 99 euros guitar. I ordered multiple, one was decent after fixing frets. Other one required a lot of work on the neck.
Would not recommend for beginners because of how much work it requires if you get a bad batch, but for the money its a really good mod platform for upgrades. If you can, go for any other more expensive HB ST model as they all came a lot higher quality for not a lot more money.
guitar are very good.
Excellent !!
The guitar is almost perfect except for the tuners that have a free play and need to be changed anyway, there are also sharp edges on the frets, but this is easy to fix !! The sound is excellent, the switch is tight as it should be and works very well !! In general, the guitar is made and assembled very high quality, the paint and varnish coating is perfect, I am delighted !! Recommend. I fell in love with this guitar!!
very cool guitar!!!
The guitar is suitable for a beginner musician. The sound and body are well made. I recommend this guitar.
Great guitar to customize
I bought one just so I could upgrade and customize it. It is a great instrument for it’s price!
Very Nice!
My first guitar & I love it! Definitely reccomended for beginners like me
Price value champion
Very good entry level instrument. I bought is as a traveling guitar and I'm very satisfied with it. One of my friend have an older one. I compared the voices of the two using my amplifier. The sound of my guitar is very similar to the real strato, very nice clean. The sound of the older one is a bit muddy. I think the manufacturers have changed the pickup over the years.
An interesting phenomenon is that the old piece has a better sound without an amplifier.
Good as home practice guitar
Best quality for this price! You will don't take it on a concert, but still well enough for every day playing.
Very good
Very nice guitar. My girl loves it so I'm happy.
Better value than most budget strats
I was pleasantly surprised by this guitar. For the cost, the guitar is a great option for an inexpensive strat copy. The neck and fretboard were great. The frets had major fret sprout. Frets had to be polished and filed. The nut material is soft plastic and will need to be replaced within a few years. They should have used a harder plastic.
The body was great except for the routing of the back. They went too far and cut through the body, exposing the front pickup cavity to the rear trem cavity. I had to use epoxy to seal the cavity.
The trem block was very cheap. I tried replacing the trem block with a big brass block however the routing of the bridge cavity was not compatible. I didn't feel like routing it myself so I put in a smaller fender mexican standard block without issue. I also replaced the saddles with stainless steel saddles without issue.
Itâs a good beginners guitar
I got this when working abroad and wanted something I could throw around with no guilt.
I was surprised with what I got though....with a nice setup (DIY) and some love it played very well...this was 10 years ago..(Yeah...I’m writing a review 10 years after purchase)...Instill have it with me, gradually changed ever Everything on it over the years, but the soul of it it’s still there.
For the price is a nice piece of equipment.
So cool
This guitar is a good for beginners. I love that
The best guitar for beginers
This is my second guitar and i really like it. I buy this guitar to try out singlecoil pickups. This guitar is perrfect for clean, crunch and overdrive. If you want to play with high gain distortion, then i would suggest to buy guitar with humbacker pickup.
