Great guitar, amazing platform for hardware upgrades
I was lucky to get a copy that was perfectly built, without any issues. Out of the box, it was totally playable. Super comfy and light, nice fast neck, slim but feeling really good. Hardware-wise, you know the deal. It's HB, so don't expect top notch hardware and electronics. Stock pickups are acceptable. Everything works as it should, but that's about it. Now, if you're ready to spend some more money and get better pickups, tuners, pots, caps, etc. you're in for a treat and will turn a decent guitar into a great one.
Great budget guitar
I have purchased this guitar after Jackson delivered to me a JS22 in unusable out-of-the-box condition. Since I was offered a heavy discount from Jackson (40% off retail in total) I feel like itâs okay to compare those two guitars in this case (keeping in mind that my JS22 unit had some serious QC issues). R-446 have better: - paint job - body shape and finish - neck finish and fitment in the neck pocket - fingerboard finish - better finished fret ends, less sharp ones than in JS22 - much better headstock finish and truss rod cavity - better nut (still not as good as GraphTec though) - setup out of the box, much lower action and saddles height, correct intonation (my JS22 came with 3mm action height, wrong saddles height, messed up intonation) JS22 had better: - beautifully polished frets - much slimmer neck, compound radius fingerboard - much better sounding pickups - better electronics - proper jumbo frets (the ones on the R-446 are just slightly larger than the normal ones) The JS22 is much lighter than R-446. I actually prefer the heavier weight of R-446, itâs easier to hold and handle than the JS22, which at times felt like a toy due to its compactness and weight. Overall I would recommend R-446 over budget Jackson JS range, even though it lacks the compound radius neck and the pickups are mediocre at best, for that price itâs probably one of better guitars for the beginners, especially considering that it was set up correctly and ready to play straight away.
Great guitar
I was looking for a modern metal guitar and I must say this one is absolutely terrific. It totally exceeded my expectations. It looks super cool, the build quality is excellent, especially for the price. The neck is very comfortable to play and the tuners hold tune just fine. The paint work is done professionally.
The pick-ups are also of a high quality. I was worried whether they might be noisy when the guitar is plugged in, but they are not. The sound is powerful and now I play and enjoy all my favorite bands such as Sepultura, Soulfly, Pantera, Godsmack, RATM and many more.
In my opinion the guitar is superb for beginners and not only. You can play many different styles and genres, however I definitely recommend it to everyone who wants to play hard, heavy riffs. It is cheap and of a super quality.
To put it short - there is lots of power hidden in that gentle looking heavy metal axe!
Buy it, you won't regret it!
