Great playing 8 string

If you're looking to get into the 8 string thing and don't wanna invest a lot, this is the guitar for you. came perfectly set up right out of the box, not a single fret buzzed. the pickups were about what you'd expect in a guitar for this price. I swapped in some fishman abasi's and I immediately had tosin's sound (his skills sadly were not included).

good for experimentation, not good for actual use

The pickups are not good neither the freatboard work it's a good deal for the price if you are curious in extended range guitars but I would not recommend for anything else

Love it

Always fancied an 8 string to indulge in low-end riffery. At the price, it would be rude no to try this one. Big meaty sound and I'm loving the fanfret neck, Get one and make some noise.

Great 8 strings introduction

Great guitar for the price. Thin neck, very comfortable to play. Pickups are ok, but swapped it to other ones with split possibility. Tuners could be better. Stock strings are way too sloppy, put 09-80 set, plays like a dream.

All I can say is wow!

I bought this guitar because I just needed an 8 string guitar, and this was the cheapest fanfret 8 string on the market. There is a ton to love in this instrument, it feels easier to play than my Jackson 7 string that cost me more when I bought it. It sounds amazing straight out of the box, and the setup was spot on. It’s an amazing instrument, and QC really does their job with these. 10/10 would recommend

speechless

I have this guitar for 6 months now and I am withouth words... 10 years ago you could never have gotten such an instrument for this price. I am uprgading the pickups for better sound but overall for such a small price this is a no brainer for all djent bois out there :)

Great base for project

Build very well and the neck is very playable. Pickups are terrible but that's to be expected at the price range. Overall happy with it. Put in some Steph Carpenter Fishmans and some Tone Ninja Locking Tuners and it's a heck of an axe.

8-strings electric guitar by Harley Benton

Well built and quality 8-strings electric guitar

The best thing for the price

Very well built for the price, and smooth on playing. The only con of built is that my neck has a tiny rough spot that's kinda annoying while playing but it doesn't hold back any kind of move.

Sound is poor but good enough for value. Consider changing pickups and it's instantly a mid range guitar.

Great bang for the buck

Up front, I'm really pleased with this guitar. For metal (and for the money), it's almost perfect. Now, the details:

Pros:

-Great build quality

-Comfortable, easy to play

-No fret buzz

-No protruding fret edges

-No hum or crackle from the electronics

-Pretty well set up out of the box

Cons:

-The stock pickups are... okay. You can get some nice heavy tones out of them, but cleans – not so much. But again, for this price, it is to be expected.

-My guitar came with a little dent on the headstock. Not sure whether that comes from the factory or uncareful transportation.

-The frets on my guitar were noticeably unpolished.

Another great Harley Benton offering

This is my 5th HB instrument. Like a few of the others I've purchased (12-string guitar, 6 string fretless bass), I was looking for a way to affordably get into an instrument that wouldn't be my primary, but would open up some new playing styles. And as with those other products, I was blown away by the way 'affordable' didn't mean giving up on features and playability.

With this being both my first 8 string (have a 7-string already) and my first fan-fret/multi-scale device, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but found that playability was excellent. Neck is incredibly comfortable, and while the guitar is somewhat heavy, it's not excessive/uncomfortable. I am getting used to having the extra string and landing on the right string when moving from the lowest to highest strings, but that probably would be the case with any 8 string (had similar issues with the 7 string). Tone is great unplugged and plugged in.

I honestly can't think of any complaints that I can make about this, I really haven't been able to put it down in the week plus I have had it. Maybe the only thing I'd want would be color options besides white and black, but the white does look really nice. Keep up the great work!

Amazing budget 8 string!

It's for anyone, beginners or not. I'd recommend this to anyone. I have it in a double drop D tuning with a regular 80 gauge string set. Some unfortunate fret work on some strings and some frets, but not a complete deal breaker for me for the price point we are are at.

Meh, good for 011001

So I got mine when it was just over 100EUR as a trial, to see if I like multiscale and 8strings.

It arrived with a messed up neck alignment, the high E string literally floating in the air next to the fretboard...fixed it in 5 minutes, but it's not something most new players (the obvious market for these cheap instruments) will even try. I guess if you are lucky you get one that actually passed QC.

Now for the real issue, the pickups. Active fart cannon in the neck and brown noise generator in the bridge position. Upgrading it would cost more than the whole instrument.

HB could get proper passive pickups in it from the same parts supplier Roswell, even in a fanned fret specific model: , bad execution...

Great project 8

For the money, simply untouchable value. Arrives intonated, almost fully in-tune, nut properly curved, with a medium action (which I prefer because I have a heavy right hand). Now if you're buying this 8 as a first one (like I did) with the intention to swap things around/tinker (like I will be doing) then this is perfect, because there are a few things to tweak that will take this absolutely to the next level.

Frets are absolutely playable as is, but could use a polish which I will do when my new strings arrive. Pickups are passable at best, but given that's the most expensive investment to upgrade in the guitar they'll serve for the time being. Electronics are the cheap chinese sort, with the sort of 3 way switch that you find on squier guitars and things of that sort.

Now I'll say I think the strings are the biggest let-down on this guitar, which is comical given that they can be easily swapped out so it's not even that big of a deal. But a low .65 on that low F# (or F if you're playing Meshuggah covers) is incredibly floppy and almost unusable, as your fretting hand with any regular amount of pressure will absolutely drive the pitch sharp. I'm going to be putting an .80 on as soon as my strings arrive in the mail.

My one complaint about the guitar that isn't easily fixed is the location of the 3 way selector, I hate how the volume pot is between the bridge and the selector. I fumble over it every time, but I suppose I will get used to it.

The biggest drawback about ordering this guitar was the 3 month (yes, you read that right) ship time due to the pandemic shortage. I knew it would take a while, and I'm not mad about it. I just figure people should know it's taking that long. Overall, strong recommend. Once you put in the time and elbow grease I doubt any sub-$1500 8 string would be able to compete with this beauty.

Wicked

Overall for the price this is a Beast of an instrument to have, the fanned frets provide an awesome playing experience, the guitar arrived in gorgeous conditions apart from a very small crack around the neck groove. The guitar works very well with most plugins or amps, it isn’t fussy at all.

Overall I would definitely recommend this guitar to any aspiring metal artist who’s looking into extended range guitars.

String holders from the back side of the guitar drop when I'm changing strings.

The neck and the body are made of some very light material, doesn't feel very comfortable playing.

Nice guitar for eventual doodling and messing around with 8 strings.

Solid multiscale guitar, for a low price

After years of playing 6 and 7-string guitars, I decided that I wanted to dip my toes in the 8-string multiscale world. I didn't want to pay absurd prices, though, so I turned to Harley Benton and found this beauty. This thing feels very good, holds tuning quite well, and sounds pretty good for its price. The standard pickups could probably be replaced quite easily for a perfect tone. Overall, I'd recommend this if you're looking for an inexpensive multiscale guitar.

great value for the price

This is the fourth harley benton instrument i bought and once again the quality over price ratio is sky high. This guitar feels great, the neck is super comfortable, the bridge and the tuning pegs are solid, i expected them to be way less stable, the overall condition is pristine, I did not find any flaws anywhere. To be honest, i feel that the pickups are a little bit underdelivering, I find it a little hard to give the attack I want to what I am playing, but you can compensate with the amp and a couple of pedals.

Overall, another great instrument from the almighty harley benton. If you're looking for a guitar to introduce yourself to the 8 strings world, this is a solid choice, it sounds good, plays great and is really affordable. Good job HB, you've become my go-to guitar manufactuter.
