Quality guitar, pickups are as to be expected

Great playing guitar only needed a bit of TLC with the fret board and a little polish of the frets and it played amazing

Great project guitar

I was a little apprehensive at first before ordering based on the mixed reviews online, however, I can confirm that my purchase was great.

It sounds like flubber because of the pickups, but, locking tuners and some better pickups will have it sounding great.

The multiscale is great and holds the tuning really well, needs a setup out of the box and heavier strings, but it wasn't terrible and you can start playing right away.

If you want a bit of fun to see if you'll like 8 strings, highly recommend, throw it infront of a 6505 or 5150 with an OD and you can play Meshuggah out the box.

For the money, 10/10

This is the 8th string of my life

Omar From georgia, this aint my first 8 string but i cant help myself to compare to some other knockoffs and overpriced guitars. sounds real nice, came already configured to play right out of the box, neck feels really good, only thing id say the lowest 8th string isnt stably tuned when drop tuning but all-and-all for this price there aint a better quality guitar, not by a long shot. Love it, will play it till the wood on the frets rot from my fingering. Rock on \m/

Great playing 8 string

If you're looking to get into the 8 string thing and don't wanna invest a lot, this is the guitar for you. came perfectly set up right out of the box, not a single fret buzzed. the pickups were about what you'd expect in a guitar for this price. I swapped in some fishman abasi's and I immediately had tosin's sound (his skills sadly were not included).

Love it

Always fancied an 8 string to indulge in low-end riffery. At the price, it would be rude no to try this one. Big meaty sound and I'm loving the fanfret neck, Get one and make some noise.

Great 8 strings introduction

Great guitar for the price. Thin neck, very comfortable to play. Pickups are ok, but swapped it to other ones with split possibility. Tuners could be better. Stock strings are way too sloppy, put 09-80 set, plays like a dream.

All I can say is wow!

I bought this guitar because I just needed an 8 string guitar, and this was the cheapest fanfret 8 string on the market. There is a ton to love in this instrument, it feels easier to play than my Jackson 7 string that cost me more when I bought it. It sounds amazing straight out of the box, and the setup was spot on. It’s an amazing instrument, and QC really does their job with these. 10/10 would recommend

I have this guitar for 6 months now and I am withouth words... 10 years ago you could never have gotten such an instrument for this price. I am uprgading the pickups for better sound but overall for such a small price this is a no brainer for all djent bois out there :)

Great base for project

Build very well and the neck is very playable. Pickups are terrible but that's to be expected at the price range. Overall happy with it. Put in some Steph Carpenter Fishmans and some Tone Ninja Locking Tuners and it's a heck of an axe.

Another great Harley Benton offering

This is my 5th HB instrument. Like a few of the others I've purchased (12-string guitar, 6 string fretless bass), I was looking for a way to affordably get into an instrument that wouldn't be my primary, but would open up some new playing styles. And as with those other products, I was blown away by the way 'affordable' didn't mean giving up on features and playability.

With this being both my first 8 string (have a 7-string already) and my first fan-fret/multi-scale device, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but found that playability was excellent. Neck is incredibly comfortable, and while the guitar is somewhat heavy, it's not excessive/uncomfortable. I am getting used to having the extra string and landing on the right string when moving from the lowest to highest strings, but that probably would be the case with any 8 string (had similar issues with the 7 string). Tone is great unplugged and plugged in.

I honestly can't think of any complaints that I can make about this, I really haven't been able to put it down in the week plus I have had it. Maybe the only thing I'd want would be color options besides white and black, but the white does look really nice. Keep up the great work!

Amazing budget 8 string!

It's for anyone, beginners or not. I'd recommend this to anyone. I have it in a double drop D tuning with a regular 80 gauge string set. Some unfortunate fret work on some strings and some frets, but not a complete deal breaker for me for the price point we are are at.

Wicked

Overall for the price this is a Beast of an instrument to have, the fanned frets provide an awesome playing experience, the guitar arrived in gorgeous conditions apart from a very small crack around the neck groove. The guitar works very well with most plugins or amps, it isn’t fussy at all.

Overall I would definitely recommend this guitar to any aspiring metal artist who’s looking into extended range guitars.

great value for the price

This is the fourth harley benton instrument i bought and once again the quality over price ratio is sky high. This guitar feels great, the neck is super comfortable, the bridge and the tuning pegs are solid, i expected them to be way less stable, the overall condition is pristine, I did not find any flaws anywhere. To be honest, i feel that the pickups are a little bit underdelivering, I find it a little hard to give the attack I want to what I am playing, but you can compensate with the amp and a couple of pedals.

Overall, another great instrument from the almighty harley benton. If you're looking for a guitar to introduce yourself to the 8 strings world, this is a solid choice, it sounds good, plays great and is really affordable. Good job HB, you've become my go-to guitar manufactuter.

Djentastic!

Is it noticably cheap? Yes. Does it djent? Hell yeah!

Amazing quality and performance considering the price. Great value for guitarists who are looking into getting an 8-string. Slap on some good thick strings and you're good to go.

Outstanding quality for the price

Using the guitar for home studio recording /w an audio interface.

I rated it 5 stars because you *cannot* get a better 8-string multi-scale guitar at this price point.

PROS

- Excellent construction, lightweight

- Holds tuning, great action (I put it in eBGDAEAE right away)

- Smooth neck & fretboard, very comfortable to play even if it's your first 8-string

- Clean, nick/scratch-free

- Fanned frets are intuitive and angled to the natural twist of your hand

- Volume & tone knobs do what they should; no complaints here.

CONS

- The passive pickups are bad. If you plan to record or play live, expect to replace them. For practice & private-jamming, they're fine. To clarify: There is intense ambient noise (even clean) and low notes / rhythms / chords / palm-muting sound very muddy, it took a lot of gating & EQ to clean it up, and it's still less than stellar. The pickups work fine for single-plucked notes / leads.

That's really the only con... and for an 8-string fan-fretted guitar, It's absolutely worth the price; very well-constructed. Just expect to upgrade the pickups if you plan to record or use it in a professional capacity.
