Harley Benton SC-400 SGT Classic Series 5-stars Reviews
Very satisfied
I'm a drummer of 40 years but have had some very expensive guitars. This guitar plays and feels better than my Les Pauls. It was purchased to just play around with. I've ordered TWO MORE Harley Bentons and have been practicing non stop. New amp is next.
Amazing WOW
There is not a single flaw on this guitar! This is my third HB ... I am happy with the first two or I would not have purchased this one, but honestly, I was expecting my luck to run out and get one off the line that just wasn't as good. But, to my shock and amazement, this one arrived quickly, in perfect condition, and perfectly setup. Just amazing, really. Thanks to these HB deals, I realized that I have run out of guitar straps, lol, so I went down to Guitar Center to get a few. While there I mess around with a few "good" guitars and it just made me want to rush home and play this new one. It is that good. I don't know how they do it for that price. The gold top, as mentioned in other reviews, is more of a dirty brass, or copper, AND is not glossy, but a flat / matte finish, but it still looks great as it is. Stays in tune very well, and stock tuners work fine. Sounds really amazing with some heavy distortion, but also pretty flawless on clean tones. I was originally thinking about SD pickups but so far these are sounding great on my various amps.
so this is an amazing guitar. I use it for busking now, but it s such a monster for the price.
its reallt good!
as a first guitar its really good! sounds amazing feels amazung everyone first guitar should ne a harley benton
Just Awesome
Great guitar for the price and well set up and in tune straight out of the box with some great sounds and i love the Orange/Gold top colour..
I would highly recommend this great and Awesome model..
Solid Gold Look and Sound
No guitar is perfect, but this guitar has a great classic sound. The gold top has a slight orange tint to it which only adds to its charm. I want to play this guitar all the time and thanks to the price I didn't have to work for years to get it. The SC-400 pickups are exactly like you would want them to be. I don't want to use my pedals. There are so many tones available. I have a cheap amp and this guitar makes it sound so much better. The tuning machines and the 3 way switch are the only things I would think of changing, but they do just fine.
Amazing guitar
I always wanted a Goldtop Les Paul, but even the Epiphone's were a bit too pricey for me. After seeing this guitar, I couldn't resist. It came a day early, and everything was great. For the price, there is no better deal out there. 10/10
Can't beat it
Great value and shockingly good fit & finish. My first HB and not the last for sure (Just ordered another, a SC-550).
Incredible value for money!
A beautiful instrument which's quality is way beyond it's price tag, the top is more of a copper rather than a true gold top but it's a joy to look at all the same. My guitar arrived pretty much perfectly setup, I didn't need to adjust anything or than a quick tune up.
My first guitar
It's my first electric guitar. Before that, I had only an acoustic guitar, the sound of which I did not like. Now i can play songs and solos with distortion and i really like it. The guitar looks impressive, and sounds quite good for it's price. But there is couple cons of this guitar. There is weight, it's quite heavy, but i think it's a feature of all les pauls. Second con is a bad neck's pickup. I'm not a professional musician, but i hear that it sounds bad. So i play always on bridge's pickup. Otherwise, it's a good instrument, and i really love to play it.
A great guitar, pretty good sound for this price, amazing features and good grip! A little bit heavy, but an amazing guitar
More coppertop than Goldtop
It’s unfair providing any real criticism. But there has to be one ‘con’, right?
The colour would be better described as copper. Otherwise what an awesome guitar for the price. It’s heavy and feels similar to the real deal. Tones are a little muddy and reserved. This could be due to timber used in the body. Make no mistake, these are not weight relieved!
The design, although more modern than a traditional LP shape, still works well. The stain finish is fantastic, although mine had a quality control issue with the rear plate routing that seems to have resulted in finish being missed on one edge of the cavity backplate. I’m yet to remove the plate to see just how far it extends.
I’d buy ten of these in all colours if I had the money! Cannot speak more highly of the rest of the quality of this guitar.
Ok, so that was two ‘cons’
very good
Very well ! Fast shipping . The guitar is well made for its price.
Great cheap guitar
It is meant to be used at home for practicing.
The guitar is not heavy, it is well balanced and more than good looking if it is something that you want.
I am a bit worried about the paint finish, it looks like it can be easily scratched, but it just me...
The sound is really good.
The feeling of the guitar, when playing, is that the guitar is well and precisely built and no sharp edges on the neck that are common to cheaper models of electric guitars.
I would definitely recommend it to someone who is starting or even someone more experienced.
Nice guitar
Really nice guitar, more red orange it's never gold
Unfortunately damaged frets in transit,.Never been a fan of ups and I would suggest another carrier. In the process of a return, seem very helpful but a little slow,
Follow up, really great service, guitar replaced and very happy and would recommend a little patience as they deal with a lot of orders.
I'm so impatient !
fast neck great sound BARGIN
Its awesome for the price it costs, with a nice amp it could be even better. buy it. even if you have a cheap amp.
Beast LP style
I own and play a lot on an Epi standard LP last 15 years, was my first and nr. 1 el. guitar. Played on a buch of different amps during that period. Guitar was sold, ended in my band for a short period, so now I wanted some guitar, LP the best, to have one and play at home or gigs from time to time, so not expensive one.
I wanted the SC450BK, but was not on stock, so I look up for this gold toppy beauty with open humbuckers (which always have sounded nicer to me as covered ones). I was really affraid for the extremely affordable price, but finally ordered.
It has arrived. First finish impressions were flawless, matt gold top looks freakin great, brown back is in perfect contrast with the top, amazing! Touch the neck to check the fretwork... what?! super great! Next tune it up, play unplugged a few chords - nice sustain, fits great in my hands, heavy (great for an LP and me), a blast! Then plugged through multieffect unit with amp simulation to the PA - HEEEY what the..., 5 times better then my Epi for 10 times this price. I am done.
Just a little cons: (thats why 4 stars)
It needed a bit of intonation tuning, after that I recognize that the nut is not place right next to the fretboard, there is a small tiny gap visible, so during the restringing I am going to move the nut, its just a milimilimilimeter. I am sure the intonation will then be supergreat.
...and ordering a tele style, another Harley (TE52) next month, as I always wanted that type too.
Super Budget LP!
Surprised to say the least!!!... Quality guitar good build.. good sound.. nice neck.. used this live it sounded great!... if you're looking for a budget LP guitar THIS IS THE ONE!
Love it! Nice sound from those pickups!
A very good guitar for a beginner! Those frets may need some additional work though. Especially on the high strings. Maybe it is just my guitar that has this issue. But other than that, I am still stunned. I also have a semi hollow more expensive guitar but this les paul is my go-to guitar for hard rock with pinch harmonics and all that!
