Harley Benton SC-450Plus GT Vintage Series

Quality dip.
Bought a cherry model and it was top class. Small prob with nut but easy to fix. I gave it to my son. Happy. So I bought the gold top and came across an angled neck pickup due to the routing being out and the scratch guard was chipped and the supporting screw was embedded in the paintwork. Still love it though and always remember what value they are. Btw plays lovely. Worth a bit of tlc.
Looks cool but has some issues
Looks amazing! Really good looking guitar. Sounds nice, but I changed Roswell pickups for an EMG set and now it sounds awesome!! In general I like it very much BUT frets need to be polished of course. Unfortunately I canât do it by myself, so will use the guitar with some additional buzzing on low action. And also vintage kluson style tuners were not good at all, so I changed them for a set of expensive locking tuners. I like the wood work. Besides, It has true maple top. And I like how they did all the cavities and cutouts in the body, they are neat and clear. It was also painted very neatly. But donât like electronics in it. Very cheap small potentiometers. And I donât now why, maybe someone just made a mistake, but linear and logarithmic potentiometers were installed in reverse, they used A-pots for a tone. And on one pot, under knob, someone forgot to instal a washer before screw⦠So, again, in general itâs a very nice good looking guitar for 170 Euro. Comfortable and good sounding. But the fret work is not great, unfortunately.
The equal of Gibson Les Pauls!
This was the second of the eleven Harley Benton guitars Iâve bought in 2024. This, as well as my first, the same in Black, are entirely the equal of their Epiphone versions. I know that some reviewers have commented that the Humbuckers on these two are not as hot as on Gibson Les Pauls. But Iâve found that with just an overdrive pedal, I can equate them. Thus, Iâve obtained what I want, which is the roaring wail of Gibson Les Pauls, at merely a fraction of that cost!
Amazing for that price.
I thought this guitar will be some piece of garbage but it turned being really amazing for that price. Of course, it isn’t the quality like original 2500€ Gibson but it’s definitely worth it for 180€
Exceptional value
I’m selling my Gibson les Paul! Overall build quality is the same. but I prefer the neck joint and I feel the bridge is better engineered bigger studs feel more solid. it holds tune much better than my Gibson. I also prefer the the finish over the Gibson’s fragile sticky finish.
Great guitar for a low price
The guitar is well made and looks good, but it does have a couple of minor flaws. Firstly, the 2nd and 3rd strings emit a ringing sound if you press them at the 5th-8th frets, this is not critical and is not audible at high volumes. Secondly, the color of the guitar is not quite gold, it is more reminiscent of bronze. Otherwise, the guitar is very good considering the low cost.
Very good guitar…I am happy!
Just received mine today
This is my first Harley Benton and I have to say it's been a absolute fantastic experience. Arrived in just a few days and it's absolutely in perfect condition. I'm really blown away with the finish and it sounds very good. Definitely won't be my last. I really recommend them.
Love this for many reasons
I was concerned about this guitar when I first saw the advert on Facebook. "Way too cheap", I thought. But, since I took possession and played it, I am so surprised and impressed at the quality of the sound, feel, look etc, that it has become my favourite guitar.
My only concern is the lack of quality with the Tuning Machine Heads and the fact I am constantly having to re-tune...
I have now had to buy new Tuning Machine Heads and replace the originals. My thoughts would be, install better at the manufacturing stage and then raise the price accordingly. On the whole though, a wonderful budget guitar for those with only limited funds.
A little disappointed
Out of the box the guitar looks gorgeous no flaws in the finish it weighs 3.7kg sounds great the volume and tone knobs work the way they should very smooth and the toggle switch works well feels good too. Now comes the disappointment the guitar out of the box came with high action the frets needed polishing. Polished the frets lowered the action BUT the neck was bowed watched YouTube how to straighten the neck did that all good so far then I lowered the action I get the action to where I like it and start to check for fret buzz I start at the high E string and work my way down the neck note for note all good up until I get to the low E string start to work my way down all is good until I get the 9th fret bang fret buzz but the funny thing is that it’s only the 9th fret on the low E everything else is good so I have to rise the action on the low e side to the stage where I it’s not comfortable for me to play it’s playable don’t get me wrong but I would rather the action lower. I’ll take it to luthier friend to see it if the guitar can be fixed with no extra cost I’ll keep it for sure if not it’s going back
