Terrific for the money.. Plays a treat
Really surprised at the quality and playability of this guitar.. Finished nicely, sounds great and crisp, straight out of the box.. Ordered one of the HB explorer models on the strength of this purchase
Harley Benton SC-Custom II Ocean Flame
For such a price, I received an almost perfect guitar, you will not find analogues. Frets do not stick out, everything builds perfectly.
The potentiometer rustles a little when turning, but it's not scary. Overall very satisfied, thank you!
Beautiful guitar that plays great
Negative first
Sound 4/5 - the pickups sound ok but they were not quite as full sounding as I would have liked for rock and punk, very playable and fair for the price but not 5 star
Quality 4/5 - there were a couple of spots where the blue had crept up onto the binding, and the side dots were not perfectly aligned but hat is it only superficial items, nothing that affected playability or that I cared enough about not to keep it.
The Good
I am super happy with this guitar, it had all the important features I was looking for - thin lightweight and comfortable body, thinner neck profile, push/pull option for single coil tones, good tuners. It also comes with strap locks although the description doesn't mention it. I also loved all the aesthetic choices colour/binding etc that made this purchase easy. The finish has a little more green in it - closer to the photos for the SC Custom Plus - which is what I was hoping for, the colour is amazing.
Playability is great, the neck is super comfortable in my hand and the tuning stability is great. I think the total package on this guitar is awesome but even more so given the price point. I have recommended HB guitars to many friends based on how pleased I am with this guitar.
Harley Benton - if you see this I would suggest a darker (black) fretboard colour to really make everything pop.
Great guitar for intermediate players
Now that i have had the guitar for a couple of months i can say that i am glad with my purchase.
This is a guitar that a beginner or even an intermediate player can pick up and have a lot of fun with it. It has everything you need from a guitar at this level and also for the price it has an outstanding feel and quality.
A recommendation of mine would be if you buy this or any other guitar remember that it all comes down to maintenance, the picks can be changed, and a lot more can be modified.
Just have fun playing your instrument that is what matters most!
High quality instrument.
I got this SC Custom in ocean flame blue and must say it's gorgeous.
My other contender was an Epi LP, but in the end, I decided on this Harley Benton because I wanted to try a different brand, and it didn't disappoint.
I learned a couple of things with this purchase:
First, sticking to the same old brand is quite absurd when you see better and nicer guitars in the same price range.
Secondly, this guitar IS a custom-like guitar. I couldn't find anything similar in the same price range.
All about this guitar is right. The fretboard is thinner than expected, and its nicely polished.
The body has those ergonomic cuts that fit really nice when seated.
I don't know... it's such a nice guitar.
I recommend this guitar to someone who wants a quality instrument and is ready to explore new brands that can compete with the more established ones.
So satisfied I just ordered my second Harley Benton
My SC Custom ll in Ocean Blue Flame is beautiful and plays well. The customer service has been great. I just ordered my second Harley Benton, a Fusion iii with the Floyd Rose so now I can learn some VH and practice my dive bombs.
Most excellent!
What a great guitar. Especially for the price. Looks beautiful. Plays very well. Nicely set up. No issues with shipping to Michigan, in the the US. Highly recommend these guitars.
Great guitar except...
The sound and feel of this guitar is great. I noticed a strange loss of low end on the low E string but figured it was how these pickups sounded. after playing it for a few days, I was upset when I saw that the bridge pickup was a bit crooked on the body and the strings weren't over/inside the pickup pole pieces. I'm thinking this is why the low string didn't sound as full as the others.
comfortable and sounding
very comfortable and ergonomic guitar. the fittings are branded and of good quality. there are minor cosmetic flaws and a crookedly installed humbucker bridge.
the guitar sounds very good and all that remains is to put the seymour pickups, the rest is in order.
No complaints
Outstanding guitar for the money, no imperfections & sounds great even with a tone deaf novice like me!!!
Not quite as good sounding as my Vintage v100 afd paradise but not far off.
