Harley Benton TE-20MN CA Standard Series Reviews
Really nice TE guitar
You can play with the guitar without any adjustments (at least the piece that I receive), first impression is really good: Visually, it is really cool, the color is better than the pics, neck is fine (no issues with edges of the frets but still this may be dif in every piece), of course strings are not the best but I believe you cannot expect that from a EUR 90 guitar!
Overall, I believe it's a really nice choice, especially if you want this one to be your first gear.
How do they do it at this price !
I wanted a cheap Telecaster style guitar to complement my collection but without spending a fortune as it was only for house practice. I was sceptical about this guitar for the price, but, gulped, took a deep breath and ordered it. I can say that I was amazed when it arrived. The colour, the finish, the look, all good. The finish, while not in the same league as a guitar you would spend £1000 on, was excellent. No sharp fret ends, no blemishes in the candy apple finish, nicely finished satin neck. It just looked the part. Playability out of the box was 8/9 out of 10. I would definitely change the strings as the ones it arrives with are a little like a transatlantic telephone cable in diameter. Sounds great through a Zoom G1 four. The clean tones are there and nice, and when driven, it sound good. For the price, you certainly cannot argue. Great value for money if you don't want to spend an arm and a leg. Don't worry about the low price, it's a good buy.
good, but ....
very heavy guitar, 4kg, very long screw of saddles)))but neck is very good)real nice quolity)
Great guitar
I bought this to do some mods on but wow it is great right out of the box. I can't believe this guitar was this price. The candy apple red is stunning and it plays and sounds great.
BANG FOR BUCK !
This guitar is amazing for its price point.
Telecaster
First i was sceptic about cheap guitars, but watching youtube conviced me in ordering one. Oh man, this is it, look no further, change the strings, intonate a little bit, its a beast for the money.
Dont thinks about it any longer, just order it !
Good for the price, but...
I ordered this as well as a TE-90FLT VW Deluxe.
Pros, neck feels nice, finish on body is great.
Cons, tuners and control knobs feel cheap. What look like metal volume and tone knobs, are just plastic and feel like it. Tuners have sloppy shafts, a couple of them bind a bit. Neck is quite rough at the end facing the pickups. The TE-90FLT VW Deluxe neck is much more finished at the end.
If you’re looking for a quality T style, this isn’t it, but for the money, it’s not bad. I have another bridge and tuners, so it’s going to get an upgrade. That said, I think it’s better value to go to the Deluxe as the quality is just a bit better. Still the same cheap plastic knobs though.
Great right out of the box!
This guitar comes well reviewed and for good reasons. Out of the box it's ready to play, action is spot on, intonation is perfect, the pickups only need a little adjustment. The neck plays well and the frets are good, no snags. The finish is awesome, I mean absolutely fabulous. I've looked it over with an eagle eye and found no flaws, none. It's as good as any Fender or Gibson I've ever seen.
The strings sound well.
I'm not going to join those who say change the strings. No need.
Nor am I going to change the tuners (haven't mentioned them but they're fine), the pickups are staying, the pots and knobs ditto.
There is no need to change anything. It plays far beyond it's price point, a multiple in fact.
If you buy this guitar just leave it alone, play it and enjoy it.
Did I mention how light it is? No? Okay, it's light and comfortable.
Buy it, play it, enjoy it and be happy!
Its okay, but this neck....
I bought this guitar as a spare for practicing at a second residence. It feels and weights as a real tele. Looks that the construction is good and I couldn't see any flaw. Sound is average but very usuable. It stays in tune. I will take it to rehearsals for sure. The only thing I don't like is the feeling on the neck. Thickness is ok for me but the feeling when fretting is something you must get used to. It is in this area where the guitar really shows its price point
very good beginner guitar
This is a very good guitar for when you just started to learn the guitar. For this price the quality is amazing. I bought this guitar to be able to recommend it to my students and in my opinion there is no better guitar at this price.
i use it at home.
pros:
quality
sounds perfect
texture and color
cons:
doesn't have green color variant
All I can say is: wow!
Telecasters have never been my favourites, but I wanted a versatile guitar to lay in my room so I can pick it up and play a few notes anytime I want - without opening the case of my other expensive guitars. Those are all stratocasters and superstrats that is why I chose this HB Telecaster. I checked it many times, decided not to order it many times, but finally I did. And I did not regret it.
The guitar looks beautiful, the CAR painting is just perfect. The modern C shape neck is bolder than the necks on my other guitars but it is surprisingly good and easy to play. The frets need some polish work, right after the replacement of the factory strings I will do that. The edges of the frets are well worked no sharp-touch feel on them. Tuners and tuning stability is much better than I thought. I think with new and branded strings it may even be better. The tailpiece is classis telecaster type, but the intonation and string height was almost perfectly set up on delivery.
The sound of the pickups is okay though a bit muddy to my taste. I spent two nights playing on the guitar through my Helix LT and I really did not realize how quickly time flew, it was so enjoyous to play this little beauty. I think the hardware is good enough to deserve better pickups for the tonal upgrade. The only problem is that new pickups will cost more than the whole guitar did...
Pretty cool
The only downside for the price is the sound, but the rest of the guitar is quite good. If you use aluminum tape to isolate the electronics improves a bit, but I purchased it with the idea to switch the pickups with the Brae Nuckle Boot Camp and I'm very happy I made that choice. I've built a great guitar for less than 250 €.
Awesome
I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the instrument components
Big Surprise!
I am delighted by the quality of the guitar! Tuning is better than on my previous (2x - 5x more expensive) guitars. Pickup?s sound is nice, but I am not an expert on that.
There are however small flaws:
- upper layer of the lacquer could be peeled off easily in susceptible places (this is not a major problem for me)
- frets need more polishing (I will do that myself)
For the price, it is an excellent guitar.
Wow
Wow, just wow, I bought this guitar just because I want Maple neck on my Kit Tele that I bought here, So I swaped necks. And this one got Rosewood alike neck from Kit Guitar. This guitar is now my testing playground for different pickups, settings, strings, electronics, testing my Luthier skills, etc. Let me tell you, first of all, colour is incredible, this candy red is amazing and flawles, Maple neck is perfect, just the neck itself is worth twice the price that whole guitar will cost you. And let me tell you, after a bit of setting her up, and some tweaks...she plays and sounds amazing. If you consider the price, It might be the best guitar in the world. For the price of full tank of gasoline you get incredible guitar worthy of a song.
5 stars across the board!
Great woodwork
THIS GUITAR ITS OK FOR THE MONEY
Wood work and paintjob are great.
hardware its cheap...chromed parts have a cheap feeling
Good for modding and upgrade
Nice guitar
I got this one because I needed a guitar to record some covers at home. I never had a telecaster before and I'm very pleased I got it. The guitar is quite heavy, so it must be really solid. The paint work is great: that metallic red looks amazing! I like maple fretboards instruments, that's why I got it but I must say that this maple is a little bit too dark for me. The neck and fretboard finish is matte (not shiny as I like to be). I'm not a guitarist but the sound is good enough for me. I already recorded a song and it sounds very good (even with my lack of skill), I just got the guitar out of the box and started to play it. I still need to intonate it though. The action was low but I decrease it a little bit more.
Knobs and switch work perfectly (even though it's a chinese guitar), so I think the quality control was very good indeed. The fret work is great, much better than my fender bass guitar.
Pros: price, finish, sound
Cons: dark maple is not that appealing to me.
Get it now!
Excellent for the price
This thing really shocked me as to how smooth and well built it is for the price. If you change the bridge and pickups you have a guitar that rivals any Mexican Fender and others like it.
Absolutely love this guitar from the moment it arrived.
Absolute bargain at it’s price point.
