New, not-pictured headstock RUINS it!! WORST design decision EVER!!

If you're gonna send me a guitar with the cosmetics changed, you should show it IN ADVANCE & update the listing to reflect the horrible things you've perpetrated BEFORE you make it available for order!

I had a chance to buy a used one but opted to wait for a new one to come in-stock. If I would have known about the headstock change I would have bought the used on hands down!

Also, why make a huge hole in the top of the guitar to use a Telecaster output jack. Would've been MUCH better if you put it on the side or back in a Strat-type output jack a la the EX-84 Modern EMG.

Coil-taps on the knobs and locking tuners would have been awesome too.

All in all, it's a basic V variant. Not bad, but a MAJOR missed opportunity to do something cool and/or premium. The old headstock shape wasn't bad or offensive and not trademark violating. It could have been improved in thousands of ways but OMG you guys made the most horrible choice and just straight-up FAILED and ended up absolutely ruining something decent that had potential. LAME!

Very satisfied.

Finally managed to get my hands on one of these, they seem to be very seldom in stock; in fact the day I ordered mine they became available in the morning and were out of stock again by the end of the day.

Won't do a big review, there are better qualified than me who've done thay already but just to say that I'm very happy with it on first impressions, plays nicely and sounds great. Added "bonus" is that the headstock isn't the shape shown in the pictures on here, it's actually very similar in shape to the headstock on the guitar it's an "homage" to, pleased about that. Now to get stuck into a few Michael Schenker/Andy Powell riffs!

I love this guitar

I bought this guitar because I hoped that a V shaped body would be comfortable for my guitar playing posture, sitting down with the neck raised very high. This worked remarkably well.

The guitar I received sounds really great, the body resonates with the strings, and I love the sound.

The frets did not arrive in really good condition. For me this was ok, as I would generally expect to clean up the frets on any new guitar that I buy. But if you don't want to do that kind of work the guitar that I received didn't play very well straight out of the box. But after a small amount of work it was great.

Very Good

Sounds excellent and good quality. If you are looking for a V style guitar this one is better than all of it's higher priced rivals.

Good for the price

For the price point, not much to complain about. The guitar arrived pretty playable and would be a fantastic introductory-level guitar

Where do I start with this iconic shaped guitar?

My son wanted one so I chose this purely on looks and price and after watching a few YouTube videos.

We have two now and they were both played live outside last weekend in a live band situation.

My first HB guitar

I didn't expect much for the price. But WOW! The quality! The sound! This guitar could easily compete with much more expensive guitars. I had this guitar for about 5 months now and I couldn't find any cons, only pros! Love Harley Benton! Will definitely buy more!

Replace pickups and pots and you will be happy.

Quality control let this one slip by...

This guitar would've been awesome had it been built right. The tailpiece is off-center and the pickups are slanted in opposite directions. Total O.C.D. nightmare. This guitar is outright embarrassing to look at.

Oh my God.

Just F***ing buy it!

See my review of

Harley Benton SC-450Plus VB Vintage Series

It says it all and the same applies.

This is even more beautiful and can be played straight out of the box. Lower the bridge a bit, adjust the truss rod to your liking, and it will be even better.

Closest thing to a real 1958 Flying V Neck you can get

My 5th HB and so far favorite of the bunch overall. Perfect balance no nose diving, weight 3.3kg, arrived in tune and perfect action, no corroded frets this time, no fret buzz, pickups sound good and the height was adjusted almost to my liking... absolutely no blemishes in the finish or the gold hardware. Despite the crazy shape of the flying V this is one nice comfortable playing guitar, great for any style you play, clean, blues, rock or metal this does it all. Highly Recommended and for the price insane not to have one.... "IF" you like guitars with chunky necks. this is one wide fat neck, 54mm wide and 25.3mm thick at the 12th fret, the HB CST-24 has 52mm and 22.7mm thick at the 12th fret. Think I got to buy another one to go with a set of Duncans I have laying around somewhere ;)

Good guitar for little money

I used to hear bad things about Harley Bentons but lately they started making higher quality guitars for a very good price. It was my old dream to have a flying V and now here it is.

At first glance the guitar seemed a little bit small and the neck was fatter than I used to but I already like it. It feels really nice to play and sounds awesome.

The only negative thing I came across is a slight noise when the tone is turned up. Maybe shielding issues, I'm sure i sort that out.

All in all it's a great bang for the buck.

Unmatched for the price

Harley Benton has been getting more and more traction lately and I decided to believe the hype and buy one for myself. My previous guitar was a cheap knockoff strat so of course the difference in quality is astronomical.

PROS:

+Nice finish, looks and feels good

+Holds tune pretty well

+Balanced well for both sitting and standing use

+Good strap placement, both ends of the strap end up not too far from each other just like in other less extreme guitars

CONS:

-The factory setup was quite bad, couldn't manage to get rid of fret buzz without raising the action way too high

-Some frets are of uneven height

-The V shaped metal plate at the bottom was a little scratched and chipped in one place (purely cosmetic)

NEUTRALS/MATTER OF TASTE:

*The pickups sound bassy and can get a bit muddy

*The guitar feels weighty but whether it's too heavy or not varies from person to person

*Two volumes and one tone knob, I'd much rather have two tones knobs

In conclusion, there is nothing too wrong with the guitar by design but the one you get could have some things you'd have to fix before getting the smoothest playing experience.

Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend Harley Benton guitars to others looking for absolute bang for their buck.

Amazing guitar for the price!

This guitar sounds and looks awesome! My only complaints are the frets are noticeably rough in some spots and there?s a small crack at the top of the headstock. Overall, this is a great guitar for the price. Definitely not my last Harley Benton!

Nice Flying V shaped guitar

Pros: Good balance while sitting or standing, very nice look.

Cons: Pickups sound decent but they lack output and definition, frets need a polish, setup was not very good out of the box & the one I ordered has a chip at the headstock, tuners and bridge feel cheap.

Wow

I had recently heard from HB guitars and how they were pretty nice and unexpensive. I wanted to buy another fixed bridge 6 string and decided "What the heck, let's go for it". I went for a mahogany set neck model since I only owned basswood bolt-on guitars so far (with and without Floyd Rose), and wanted to try something different.

I don't really know the brand very well, so I wasn't expecting much from the pickups. The knobs, bridge and parts looked pretty solid from the pictures.

Once I received and tried it unplugged I immediately noticed the guitar's huge resonance.

I then plugged it in to my POD HD 300, and maaaaaaaaan!! The sustain on this thing is sick!! It sounds better than any of my other guitars. The pickups are really clear! It's pretty lightweight too.

There are some aspects which I don't really enjoy that much, but they're mostly a matter of personal taste. The neck feels thick and narrow for what I'm used too, also I'm not very fond of the 2 volumes 1 tone knob configuration. The finish isn't perfect, it has minor details.

Overall, for it's price it's amazing! Would buy again!

Cheers

Wow! Just Wow!

Harley Benton have done it again! This is my 4th Harley Benton and I've been blown away once again. I purchased this guitar for use in live playing with a band and for my YouTube cover channel. I also had never actually played a flying V before and was always very interested in playing one. At a price like this, what did I have to lose? :)

When the guitar arrived, I was once again baffled by the quality of the guitar based on the price! Everything from the workmanship to the action on the strings was absolutely perfect. All hardware is of exceptional quality and electronics are also perfect! After give the guitar a physical once over and being overly satisfied with the quality, it was time to plug this bad boy in.

Upon plugging the guitar straight into my amp, I was instantly blown away by the quality of the sound. The output is very nice and clarity is amazing. The Wilkinson pickups are fairly bright but have a lot of power behind them also. The guitar is actually an amazing "All Rounder" and extremely diverse whether you are playing ballads/punk/metal! Everything sounds great through those vintage style pickups.

Physically the guitar plays like butter and is incredibly sturdy and well built. It holds very comfortably and rivals my more expensive guitars all round! I also love the no frills knobs - 2 volume and 1 tone. Suits my needs perfectly! Definitely an instant favorite! If you are considering purchasing this guitar, consider no more, just go for it. You won't regret it!
