Excellent Present

Bought it for my young son to get him into music. Almost regretted it as it's hard to keep him off it. Excellent Xmas present.

Great present!

Got this for my Dad, a professional wind player as a fun christmas present. He has had a great bit of fun with it. A great little instrument for a bit of fun and learning!

I love this thing

This is a great little instrument, really fun to play, very easy to record. A little reverb and delay and you've got instant dub vibes. The build quality feels a little flimsy, but it comes with a molded plastic case that will withstand a lot of punishment.

NOT SO GREAT

Had this product less than 2 months and played it 4 times for 10 minutes each time. Keys are now sticking or not sounding. There is a reason why these are sooooo cheap. Steer clear or buy better.

More useful than I thought

I planned to use this as a simple portable device for finding notes and melodies for song training, which it can do just fine. I didn't expect it to have the tonal quality for creating music.

But I was surprised how funny it is to express dynamics with your breath and still being able to use your keyboard skills. Note, however, that the name "melodica" is apt. It is great for melodies, but useless for harmonies. One tone at a time, or you will never know which tone in the chord will steal all the air.
