First, the price is typical for that level of instrument. Second, 12 strings excel at open "cowboy chords". I play them almost exclusively, but you have to understand what music I'm into before you judge what's right for you. 12 strings take most 6 string techniques out of the mix. "Tapping", string bending, constantly playing material using barre chords is pretty much out of the question. My own musical interests run toi the music of the 60's & 70's, when 12 strings had their heyday. The Stones, Byrds, The Beatles, and even the Who (*) relied on them heavily. Also the Strawbs, whom you may, or not be familiar with. Some key points: 12 Strings should be tuned to D-d, and not concert pitch E-e. This makes for easier fretting, and prolongs the live of the...

This is an excellent 12 string guitar. It is sturdily built and quite heavy but this is good: with a thick but comfortable neck that includes a twin truss rod arrangement, further increasing it strength. Those with small hands will find difficulty putting a thumb over the bottom string for playing chords, but on the other hand it is the easiest 12 string I have used for playing barre chords, all the way up the neck. The fingerboard is a nice piece of rosewood and is fairly flat which enhances accurate intonation fingering and good for using a capo. Both Shubbs and G7 capos work fine with careful setting up (but strangely I couldn't get Shubbs 12 string one to work as the fingerboard is too flat for that one.) One tip with a capo is to place on the 2nd fret leaving the bottom string...

I use this guitar for my plays in various places like the church, at the restaurant gigs etc. Pros are; brilliant and rich sound, especially when pluged in, it looks fabolous, better in reality than in the pictures, the action is perfect, really easy to play no matter it's 12-stringed, I even use it in solos, manufacture quality is excellent. Cons; its too perfect to have any. I have reasonable feedback, I'm playing guitar five years, every single day I spend at least two hours playing, I played classical, electric and acoustic guitars, this is my fourth one and I'm perfectionist. I even have my own skilled private guitar master (the only one here in my town) who was stunned by it. He even wanted to buy it from me! Anyway, I hope this will help to everyone in doubt. Now this is...

Eiro Nareth uses this guitar make a righteous video of Hans Zimmer's "Theme from Interstellar" transcribed for 12-string guitar. That to get a guitar so resonant, so full of tone at the price is a miracle. If ever a guitar needs on onboard tuner - a 12-string is it. I just got the guitar today so the strings not settled in. It does have just a bit of fret sprout, but Phillip McKnight taught me take care of take that. No buzzing, frets look good. Tuner are a little stiff but smooth but just babies that some growing to do! The action is a little high for this main electric player but this not for shredding. I would not lower the action for fear of compromising the magnification tone, right out the box. Unplug and played with a pick, it is one of the loudest guitar I ever playing!...

I was fully expecting to send this back as for the price i couldn't believe it was going to be any good and after some recent bad luck with Recording King acoustics i was expecting the worst, huge surprise, it plays absolutely lovely, looks great and sounds wonderful, there was no sharp frets (as per the Recording king guitars), it was beautifully setup with a low action and very playable, the tuners which are very important in a 12 string obviously are pretty good and it stays in tune well, the guitar is so good I've ordered a pickup for it as intend to use it live with my band. I would also say it isn't an expensive guitar which you can tell close up, it's similar to Tanglewood's crossroads series but it looks great, vintage looks, it's a keeper and quick delivery as well. Very pleased

I received this guitar a week ag and, apart from settling it in, have used for a gig, though as purely acoustic. First up, it is a quite heavy guitar compared with most of my others (6 and 1 string) but not uncomfortably so. It is big - important to know as need the right size gig bad/case for transporting safely. The sound is full with the expected jangly sound of a twelve string guitar with enough bass tone to be clearly noticed. Okay sound can by rather subjective and what pleases on player may not be as good for another. This is the 5th 12 stringer I have bought over my lifetime (played many others) and, for me, it is just about right as a balanced tone. I need a low action for my aging hands to be able to cope fort an extended session and, so far, this fits the bill for that aspect...

It's been a long time since I owned a jumbo EKO 12 string guitar. That was a monster, but it had a big sound. After thinking about it for a long time, with my wife repeating, "What do you need another guitar for?" I took the plunge and opted for the Yamaha. I must confess that it was the compact size that fell for, and I did not expect it to sound as full as my EKO. It doesn't, of course, but it is a joy, and much easier, to play - with quite a low action. The built in tuner is a very useful bonus. The sound (using a D tuning) is better than I anticipated and it is a beautifully finished off instrument. My only negative comment relates to the strap buttons. I usually use the locking clip nuts to hold the strap on safely. I had no realised that the jack socket went through the...

D'Angelico Premier Fulton Iced Tea Burst

As a pro musician, I needed a 12 string for a project.I wouldn't have a lot of use for a 12 string but I did not want to buy cheap overall quality. I had tried many 12 strings over a few months and was not happy with what I played, so why buy one I hadn't tried? I new the Dangelico name of old and even though this is a relatively new company resurrecting the name, I liked what they were saying and what was being said in reviews.I had some reservations when I heard it was made in China but I must say I am pleasantly surprised. The workmanship is fantastic and the sound across the high end is crystalline, while the bass is robust, creating remarkable tonal balance. Its single-cutaway Grand Auditorium design and slightly longer headstock give the Premier Fulton a nostalgic look, but with a...

Luna Guitars Vista Eagle 12 A/E

Luna Guitars Vista Eagle 12 A/E

Based on 1 reviews

I'll start with looks - some of the Luna range are what I would describe as 'over fussy' in appearance, with too much detailing on the sound board. This guitar has the balance just right. The finish is flawless. Yes you might get better if you spend £1000+ on a guitar, but for around £600 with a very nice case, you will have no complaints. The case covering has a pleasing paisley embossed pattern, there are enough latches and hinges and they work smoothly.I am suprised that there is no lock on the case, but that is not a major issue. Playability - all 12 string guitars have to have stronger, wider necks to accomodate the extra strings and tension. The Vista Eagle has as narrow a neck as you can hope for on a 12 string, and the neck profile is chunky but comfortable, even...
