Best small MIDI merger
As always, Kenton device delivers best quality and stable functionality.
Zero latency, good quality
I use this module as the "core" of a network of 2 keyboards and a MIDI pedalboard. I didn't notice any latency whatsoever even when both keyboards would control eachother at the same time. Good look-and-feel, overall I'm very satisfied.
Does the job I need it to.
Converts up to 4 in to 2 out as advertised. Handy for controlling multiple devices (in my case from a Kenton Midi Thru 12) with a different controllers, without having to keep plugging and unplugging midi leads.
Wors flawlessly
Contrary to some other midi mergers that I have tried, this one produces no midi leaks neither hung midi messages from mixed inputs. I have been using this Kenton with three totally different inputs: Doepfer Trautonium w cv/gate to midi comverter, Kaossilator and Doepfer Dark Time and the output on a vintage Roland JV-1010 specifically for ethnic instruments. So now I can randomly use either one or more of these inputs without having to patch or switch. So yeah, I am happy.
Sturdy and works very well.
I use this to connect multiple MIDI controllers (Novation keyboard, Roland organ pedals and an Alesis percussion pad) to a workstation.
It's sturdy and works very well, haven't had any problems with it, even when using all the controllers at once (the drummer plays the percpad). It's reliable so I'm very happy with it.
I had read that other MIDI mergers that don't have a dedicated power supply can have compatibility issues, so that's why I settled on this one.
Useful product but expensive
Functionally, this is great. As a product however it's of relatively low quality, especially for the price. Feels sturdy but has sharp corners and the assembly reminds me of DIY products. It also comes with a power supply of the worst kind: a wall-wart.
Mergers are extremely useful in a MIDI studio so I've purchased a few of these, but every time I put them in my cart I feel bad -- they're too expensive for what they are.
Does the job it's designed for
It's been sitting in my rack for quite a few years quietly doing it's job, no problems.
Works with no headache - exactly as you would wish
Absolutely perfect, plugged this in a few months ago and totally forgot about it - meanwhile I've been using two master controllers to send midi messages into the Midi Merge - the output of the Midi Merge is going to the Kenton Thru and out to the rest of the studio. Solid set up and has worked absolutely flawlessly. Great product.
very easy to use and does the job
This is the best alternative to usb hubs for your midi controllers. Even using powered usb hubs, I was constantly getting usb triggered crashes of my OS because of too many usb devices plugged in at once. The alternative is this (using the midi in of my audio interface), and works perfectly. That is of course, if your devices still have MIDI sockets...
serves its purpose
has everything you need for my home studio
