I’m quite happy with Marimba One’s pricing of their mallets - the lowest peice mallets already sound great and after that the more you pay, the better the sound gets (in my opinion). But also!!! I think Marimba One mallets sound best on their own instruments, and unfortunately, in my experience, non of their mallets sound really great on Adams instruments - whuch is the most common brand in Europe. So if you have a Marimba One marimba, than I this these mallets are for you! But if you mainly have Adams and Studio 49 instruments in your area, maybe buy Adams mallets instead.

I used the mallets to play some songs on vibraphone while accompanying myself. They make it possible to get both a nice and warm attack while still playing soft and mellow chords. The mallets can get a very hard attack in when striked hard but they still maintain a well rounded sounded. When used at softer dynamics I find them a lot more mellow and the sounds kind of blend into each other. The only con I can find is that when they would be used in a soft passage where articulation is needed. Other mallets would be more suited for that. To Summerize : very good all round mallets, I would buy them again! You certainly can't go wrong when looking for an all round vibe mallet.

My favorite line for four-mallet marimba playing is the Rober Van Sice series from Adams. Great for solo, ensemble or even orchestral playing as well. Six hardnesses in both mono-tone and multi-tone, they have all the hardnesses that makes sense on Adams marimbas, so I would argue that you do not need any other mallets if you have these. My personal though is that these mallets were made for Adams’ marimbas while other brands’ mallets were designed for other manufacturers’ instruments - that is why i think these will always sound better on Adams instruments.
