About Korg
Founded : 1962
Korg was founded in 1962 by Tsutomu Kato and Tadashi Osanai in Tokyo, Japan. The company started out as a rental and repair business for electronic organs and other musical instruments. In 1963, Korg released its first original product, the Donca-Matic DA-20, a small rhythm machine.
In the 1970s, Korg began to expand its product line and released the first polyphonic synthesizer, the PS-3100. This was followed by the release of the iconic MS-20 analog synthesizer in 1978. The MS-20 was a huge success and helped to establish Korg as a leader in the synthesizer industry.
In the 1980s, Korg continued to innovate and released the first digital workstation, the M1. The M1 was a revolutionary instrument that combined sampling, synthesis, and sequencing capabilities in one instrument. This was followed by the release of the Wavestation in 1990, which was the first instrument to feature vector synthesis.
Korg has continued to innovate and produce a wide range of instruments, from digital pianos to synthesizers to workstations. The company has also released a number of software products, such as the Korg Gadget app for iOS. Korg continues to be a leader in the music instrument industry and is known for its high-quality products.
