About Kramer Guitars
Founded : 1976
Kramer Guitars was founded in 1976 by Gary Kramer and Dennis Berardi in Neptune, New Jersey. The company began as a repair shop for guitars and basses, but soon began to manufacture its own instruments. Kramer was the first company to introduce the "superstrat" guitar design, which was a combination of a Fender Stratocaster and a Gibson Les Paul.
Kramer quickly became one of the most popular guitar manufacturers of the 1980s, with their guitars being used by some of the most famous musicians of the time, including Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, and Dave Mustaine. Kramer guitars were also featured prominently in the movie Back to the Future.
In the 1990s, Kramer was sold to Gibson Guitars and the company's focus shifted to producing budget instruments. In 2008, Kramer was purchased by MusicYo, a Japanese company, and the company began to focus on producing high-end guitars.
Today, Kramer is still producing guitars and basses, and is still a popular choice among guitarists. The company continues to innovate, and its guitars are used by some of the world's most famous musicians.
