Meinl MDST10BK 10" Snare Timbales

I have been using this drum for a little over a month and so far I am incredibly pleased with it. What impressed me the most about this product was how good it sounds as both a snare and a timbale. I tuned mine to create a nice, bright sound and then with a flick of the lever I can switch to a crisp yet musical timbale sound. The stock head that comes with the drum has held its tuning in the past month and still sounds as good as it did when i first tuned it. The mount is also incredibly secure and it hasn't moved at all since I set up on the kit. Rather than using the standard tuning rods that most drums use, the head is tuned with nuts. A Meinl tuning spanner is included with the drum however, so tuning it isn't a problem. As with all of Meinl's products this drum is very well made...

Meinl MDST8BK 8" Snare Timbales

Meinl MDST8BK 8

I have been using this drum for little over a month now and so far I am incredibly happy with it! When the snares are turned off it produces a wonderful, bright timbale sound and when in snare mode it produces a very tight and crisp sound, almost like a marching snare or drum corps kind of sound. The drum is very well made and it hasn't moved at all since i set it up on my kit. The quality of the stock head also surprised me as it is easy to tune and hasn't de-tuned with time. There is also a Meinl tuning spanner included so tuning the drum is easy. One drawback I have found while using this drum is that the lever to turn the snare wires on or off can be somewhat stiff and awkward to use and I often find myself having to use two hands to turn the snares off. I own both this model and...

I am a profesional musician that works on cruise ships all year round for the last 36 years, our normal problem is always the weight and the sise of our luggage because of the limitations of the airlines. I came across this mini timbales and they are excellent they have great sound, very strong and easy to mount, you can even mount it on a zimbal stand and it works perfect. I take them in every contract and they perform very good in the theatres of the ships playing against a full band without a microphone. I really recommend them.

Meinl MDT13CH Drummer Timbale

Adding a set of timbales to a drum kit can be difficult and result in space compromises that affect adversely how you play. Given that the timbale, in the drum kit set up, is used more for latin fills rather than specific timbale patterns, the Meinl MDT13CH is a useful compromise that allows the expansion of your kit without compromising how you play. The drum itself is a 13 inch diameter steel shell with 6 tuning points. The tuners themselves are tuned from the bottom using a supplied spanner. Although more awkward to use than a standard tuning key, the spanner allows for the much higher tensioning that timbales require. The build quality and chroming of this drum is excellent- as you would expect. The holder attachment is robust but simple and does not provide for any angle adjustment....

I've always wanted a set of Roto-Toms ever since seeing INXS and VAN HALEN in concert in 1984 ish, now an old man :), aged 44, having recently returned to drumming after an enforced absence( kids eh!, who knew they would take so long to grow up), I purchased this set of MILLENIUM 6,8,10 ROTO TOMS and I am very happy with the construction and quality and over the moon with the sound. I have to say though that I've replaced the stock heads with REMO CS BLACK DOTS, which make them sing and taken them off the mounting bar and put them onto my rack, which aids ease of placement immensely. 9.95/10

The sound is as good as expected from the samples provided, despite looking almost like a toy. I really like it. I use it as percussion extension on a standard drumkit and it fits nicely also in volume. The tuning went easier than expected, but on the smaller one I have some wrinkles on the edge of the skin I could not get rid of. I think the photos are misleading regarding the fixing, but in the end I could fix it correctly to the tuning screw of a tom. Overall I am satisfied and would recommend it for practicing and even recording. I cannot judge how much the heads can survive if played live with regular sticks, but till now it stands my practicing well.

LP M258 Matador Timbales 14"+15"

LP M258 Matador Timbales 14

These were my first set of timbales, they are quality enough for anyone at entry level, but still quality enough to lay down on recordings and get a traditional sound. The bonus of these shells are the depth (8"), helping you play cascara patterns more easily as there is more space to do so. The finish is excellent, and the stand/hardware that comes along with it will not have you looking to replace it in any short time, quality stuff all around. It comes with a stock pair of sticks, cowbell and LP heads, these will need to be replaced right away with better quality single ply heads (Remo Ambassador, Evans G1) a solid cowbell and proper timbale sticks. Again, these look excellent and give a deep sound, but not a traditional one, more experienced players will be looking for a...
