bought this snare drum to use as part of a drum/percussion set up, I have a similar wood shell but slightly smaller snare but it lacked punch as well as having short internal snares. This drum is quite heavy for its size, but its very controllable now that I've changed the factory heads for Remo ones, which make a drastic improvement to the sound. I mike all instruments so was looking for a distinctive sound and I got it with this snare. I dont use the rims mount as I have a small stand that suits my needs better, but the mount with arm seems fairly sturdy, I can highly recommend this snare drum and at the price its very affordable and great value.
