Coming from the classical side, I moved to a more Jazzy Mouthpiece, and I was looking for some more Jazzy Reeds than Vandoren V21 2 1/2 or 3. The response is a little bit harder in the lower register, but I am very loud with them. These are the right reeds to play a solo.

I am a full-time player and use these exclusively from large weddings to intimate quiet gigs. I find the response and durability is absolutely stunning. I use the reeds for several hours a day and they last me for a minimum of 3 months (as opposed to cane which only lasts me for 3 weeks max). They respond in exactly the same way every single time and very evenly over the whole range of the instrument, from low Bb to altissimo. No need to wet them, they don't warp, you don't need to warm them up. The only downside I have found is the sound, which is very slightly brighter and a tiny bit less full than the cane reeds, however only I notice this (I have asked other musicians if they notice the difference in my sound since switching and no-one has). This reed played straight out of the box after soaking it a few hours. This is opposed to the "classic" Gonzalez 3,5 version I tried for tenor. Also opposed to the above, the strength is not similar to vandoren. This 1,5 is much lighter than it's 1,5. It plays well, still a bit more classical feel to it than jazz, in my experienced opinion, which is what we want here, right? It keeps loosening up quickly so they can be used in an emergency live without embarrassing yourself or being out of breath after one solo. I used Otto link super tone master 7*. With that set-up it is expressive but not very. It does not close down when playing loud and it is loud! It tunes well. No funny stuff like the slight lower register problems I had with the "classic" Tenor Gonzalez....

I play alto saxophone and I am an advanced beginner. I have purchased many cane reeds in the recent past, as a part of my path of discovery to find a nice sounding reed with which I could develop my tone and technique. I was initially reluctant to purchase this Ambipoly Classic Alto 2.0+, because of the expense and for the fact that I was not sure how warm or how bright the reed would be like – I did not desire to end up owning an expensive reed that sounded too thin and that I was not ultimately happy with. So, I opted to purchase this Ambipoly Classic Alto 2.0+, instead of the brighter Ambipoly Jazz Alto (which I subsequently purchased at a later date) Once it arrived however, I found that its sound was a bit too rounded and warm, with not enough brightness for my tastes. However,...
