Phil Jones Piranha C4 Bass Cabinet BK

Phil Jones Piranha C4 Bass Cabinet BK

When Phil Jones launched at NAMM in 1992, people laughed! They're still laughing but now it's because of the PJB quality of sound, superb build and features. The C4 is outstanding in every way. The sound from this small, high quality cab is nothing short of amazing. Instantly you actually hear the sound of your bass without colouration with a projection that seems to defy logic. What is so good about this cab is that you hear your bass clearly and so do the audience - you don't need deafening volume to hear every note articulated in a very musical way.

Great little cabinet. I had a Markbass setup in the past (115 and 210), but didn't really like the pronounced mids Markbass are so well known for. I had read a lot about Phil Jones' gear and every single review I came across was very positive, so I decided to order this little cab and see what PJB is worth. I am glad I did! It's small, not too heavy and very easy to lug around. And the sound! This is exactly what I was looking for. The sound is very precise, very hifi like and this cab has a very fast response. Really great for slap bass. Chords sound excellent too. I can see now why PJB get stellar reviews all the time. I, for one, am sold. I'll be ordering another one of these very soon!

First "real life" test with the box yesterday. Band rehearsal with a motivated drummer... Is it loud enough? Yes, it is. Even with the tiny Eden WTX264 there's enough to fill the room. The efficiency is stunning. As they're 8Ohm boxes, at the moment there's just 180W to the amp. Still no need to run the amp on maximum. I dialed in more bottom end in comparison to before (with an Ampeg 410). No complaints. The sound is a bit more woody, bony, growly, vintage, with a very smooth and powerful low end. Definitely not a neutral sound, but extremly musical. And by far enough loudness to be ready for a moderate band or a club gig. Will I need/get a second one? Yes, I will. First, I do miss a bit of air movement. It's all there but not as... surrounding(?) as I like it to be. Could...

Ampeg SVT-212AV Cabinet

Great sound, exactly what I need for my sound. If you play through an overdriven amplifier and the 410 speakers sound too soft, but there may be a risk of using 12-inch guitar speakers, 212av is the best choice. I don't use it as a single speaker, if you want to use with 5-string bass with low B, you can feel the lack of subbass. I use it together with the ampeg svt 410hlf, they fit perfectly on each other. 410hlf takes care of the lower frequencies. One star down - because cabinet is only in 4ohm version and is hard to use it with 8ohm 4x10 or 1x15 cabinet without serial-paraller box on most of bass amps. Also black-grill version is not available. Note : I playing through a 2-ohm amplifier, using two 4-ohm cabinets parallel on 4ohm amp can blow up your amplifier.

Orange OBC112 BLK

This Bass box is unreal! First it is super LIGHT. Second it is SMALL. Third it is LOUD! Rated 400w at 8ohms, but I'm pretty sure the LaVoce speaker inside is rated much higher. Super efficient design. One is loud enough for most gigs. I stack two to get my impedance down to 4ohm and to pump out the full wattage of my head-- and the sound is massive. I've owned many bass boxes, from 15s, 10s, 12s.. these sound like vintage 15s without the weight and size. Absolutely a great box. I prefer the black to the orange as I find the black tolex a little less soft and more robust. Hard to beat this bass box. Fully recommend.

Darkglass DG112N Bass Cab

Darkglass DG112N Bass Cab

Based on 2 reviews

I recently acquired the Darkglass DG 112N bass cab, and it has quickly become an indispensable part of my rig. As a bassist who values both tone quality and portability, this cab exceeded my expectations on both fronts. The most striking aspect of the DG 112N is its exceptional tone. The clarity and depth of the sound produced by this cab are truly remarkable. Whether I’m playing slap bass lines or laying down smooth grooves, the DG 112N consistently delivers a rich, full-bodied sound that complements my playing style perfectly. Another standout feature of this bass cab is its portability. Despite its compact size, the DG 112N packs a punch, making it ideal for gigs and rehearsals where space is limited. The lightweight design makes it easy to transport, while the sturdy construction...

Glockenklang Double 2 x 12" 8 Ohm

Glockenklang Double 2 x 12

Bought this cab to go under my recent purchase of the duo 2x10, and having done countless hours of research, trawling forums etc etc, I can affirm that these cabs are THE BEST I have ever used, and I have used all the major brands at one time or another. A manageable sized cabinet on its own, The Double is like all their gear built with the highest quality components and attention to detail, Like the doors that "clunk shut" on a VW or Mercedes this gear has that quality of feel about it....built to last a lifetime. The sound is focused, full, with a tight low end, the cab never even flinched with my B'String pumping through it at recent gigs at a loud volume. The tone is whatever you want it to be if you have a good head and good tone in your hands I challenge anyone with these...

Warwick Gnome CAB 2/8/4

Warwick Gnome CAB 2/8/4

Bought this alongside the standard Warwick Gnome head and it is an immense sound. Only got a stock Squier P Bass but the tone out of this cab is fantastic; harmonics ring true and the range is very responsive. The added tweeter volume control is a great touch. Great at low and high volume, only rehearsed with this so far but got over the drummer's volume without breaking a sweat. Dual speakon/jack input is handy, a fair weight (little heavier than it looks but far lighter than the older bass rigs) and you can't beat the price. Great cab, fantastic when paired with the Gnome head and cannot recommend highly enough!

Eich Amplification 112XS-4 Cabinet

Eich Amplification 112XS-4 Cabinet

The cabinet has a great tilt back feature, and is very lightweight. It doesn't have the same bottom end as my 1 X 15 or 2 X 12 cabs, but it also doesn't weigh 30 kilos. I think it is a great all around cabinet for most gigs, and you will be hard-pressed to find another lightweight cabinet that sounds this good at this price. I used this cabinet for 2 outdoor shows powered by a Eden WTX-500 head. I play in a R&B band (gtr, kbd, drums, saxes, trumpets, singers) and had no problem at all hearing myself, or being heard onstage. The audience could hear me fine when we played a small outdoor show without putting the bass through the PA. I'm very happy with my Eich!!

Phil Jones Compact C2 Bass Cabinet BK

Phil Jones Compact C2 Bass Cabinet BK

I bought this cabinet to drive my 200 watt amp (dropping the impedance down to 4 ohms) and to point it towards me (like a studio monitor). A cabinet this small sounds enough for my purposes, but I wouldn't use this cabinet without the support of another cabinet with larger speakers. It has enough mid and high frequencies, but lacks low frequencies. The tc e BAM200 amplifier was not able to load this cabinet with low frequencies enough, with a more powerful amplifier (tc e BQ250) the cabinet sounds noticeably better: more low frequencies. My takeaway: This is a decent studio monitor given its size it sounds incredible. It's not worth playing only through it alone. Bonus: if you sit closer to it in hot weather, the cabinet speakers will blow over you no worse than a fan. It's nice that...
