Medium Ride Cymbal

Quite versatile ride with controlled overtones, darker ping sound with cutting bell. Not very crashable and loud.
A nice ride with lots of character
The Meinl 22" Byzance Extra Dry Medium Ride is not the cheapest cymbal there is, but it does offer a great value for your money anyway. The sound is dry, like the name says, but I expected it to be maybe even a bit more dry than it actually is. That's not a bad thing, in my opinion it just makes the ride a bit more versatile. The cymbal is also a bit thicker than I expected, but I'm still able to crash it and it sounds wonderful. It doesn't go out of control even when played hard. One of the coolest things about this cymbal is the fact that it has a clear and dry ping, but a very "smoky" wash underneath it. Also the bell sounds somehow smoky to me.
This ride is definitely not an "all-arounder", but it still works very well in surprisingly many kinds of music. I have even used it succesfully with a hard rock band. It's a great and versatile ride for drummers who like their instruments to have some special character.
