This is the first pair of hot rods I've bought so I have no point of reference but I'm very pleased. They seem well built, I'm using them on a whole range of found sound type percussion as well as just hitting them against each other for a good ticking sound. Only slight negative is the writing on one of the sticks has a lot of fade to the printing. Not an issue for me but might bother some.
