Amazing sound but

so the amp sound is supper but i have my comments.

1- reverb is not foots witchable, in dirty channel you can't turn on the reverb in solo, the only way from the back of the amp, so it is so dump design

2- in put jack for the foot switch is from front, not sexy :)

3- not 25 it's around 22 watt.

4- only 3 tubes for the preamp, the other 3 tubes are for reverb, fx loop, and phase/invert.

over priced, in USA is 1450 euro, in EU is 2400 Euro !!!!!!!!!!!

so the product itself is not worthy the 2400

so as the sound is the best, but with the abuve comments, it become 3stars

Awesome amp

This is the most versatile amp i've ever used. The first two modes of the first channel are beautiful cleans that can reach the edge of breakup. The third mode is the best crunch i've ever heard.

Second channel fit's more for metal tones and shines when you open up the graphic EQ.

Nothing Compares.

This has to be one of the best and greatest guitar amplifiers ever made and I have owned a lot, Orange, Peavey, Vox, Marshall, Roland and several Mesa Boogie's. The tone is to die for albeit slightly thinner than my Dual Rectifier but then even most 100 watt heads are. This head had an enormous role to fill particularly as I took the brave decision to buy the Rectifier 1x12 straight cab to compliment it. How did it perform in the studio and on stage with my band? It passed with flying colours, seriously good tone and punchy with a surprisingly good amount of bottom end. The guitar really cut through the mix. My band mates were blown away and really liked the clear sound it produced. Very easy to get a good tone from too. Do I still prefer my Dural Rectifier for bone crushing tone? Yes. Will I be using the Mark V 25 live from now on? Yes. It is so good that I am willing to keep my Dual Rectifier at home. The sound it produces ranges from really clear cleans, blues, classic rock, classic 80s metal through to jaw dropping modern metal, it is mind blowing how Mr Smith crammed so much awesome tone into such a small head. Yes, it is expensive but you really get a lot for your money. I can't think of any other amp in this category that compares its that simple. Also, it weighs less than 8Kgs. I watched the John Petrucci play through video on Youtube and was convinced it was the right amp head to get for playing live.

Incredible head

I bought this mainly as a head to play and record metal at home and it does those jobs brilliantly. Note that this head is louder than you think (ex: if your master volume goes over 25% then your neighborhood will hear you!), so if you are concerned about being able to gig with this, then don't be.

Also, due to the Cab Clone functionality you can record without sending the signal in the cabinet, which is awesome for the times when you want to crank up your master volume to get tone out of it, avoiding any disputes with people who 'don't like it loud'.

More, I own the head 3 days now, however I could not dial in a crushing rhythm metal tone. Still working on that, I've learned that it takes time to learn how to dial tone in a Mesa. The manual is very useful for that as it explains what it know does and what each mode is - I could not see myself figuring out everything without reading the manual. This being said, don't get intimidated: the tone exploration is a fantastic experience and everything you dial sounds good (one way or another), so you can't really go wrong. I also just ordered a Maxon 808 pedal to help with that metal sound.

To sum up, I can say that I am satisfied with my purchase and I would for sure recommend the Mark V 25 as a good sounding, versatile and with a small footprint head.
