Mollenhauer 1295 Prima Alto Recorder

Wow!

I bought this recorder because of the other great reviews - this recorder is well worth every penny!

As other people have already said, the 'plastic' head joint is better than wooden head joints because it doesn't need much 'warming up' & doesn't need to be 'broken in' like full wooden recorders.

It does have a lovely tone compared to 'plastic' recorders.

My recorder teach is very impressed with this recorder!

This is a really nice choice and as far as I know the only hybrid of a plastic head with a wooden body in the alto range. The sound is definitely better than the full plastic instruments. So this is great for players who just play occasionally and do not want to go through the procedure of playing the instrument in. Definitely very nice - I wish there was a tenor like this too!

Mollenhauer prima alto

This is a beautiful beginners instrument. The plastic top wont swell with spit and can be easily cleaned. The sound from the wood body is deep and sonorous. Visually this instrument appeals to me. Being an alto recorder (deeper than the soprano) the sound is particularly appealing and much professional music is available for this instrument. Comes in a case, with grease to oil the cork, and a cleaning utensil. well priced, response, and attractive.
