Mollenhauer 5223 Denner Alto Recorder

Lightweight, responsive beauty

I ordered this recorder along with another Denner model to compare and decide. It was an instant choice. I really like the light weight of the recorder and the clarity of tone and also how it makes it easy to play quiet while being nice and loud when needed. The Olive wood is beautiful and as I handle it is becoming slowly a richer deeper colour. I am a Grade 5 player and this Recorder feels like a welcome upgrade.

A favorite

This is by far my favorite recorder. The olive wood is lightweight and provides a rich sound. The Mollenhauer 5223 is a real joy to play. If you are looking for a recorder that is unique, but not overpowering, this is the one for you.

A good choice for reliable practice instrument

This is a very pretty wood and nice, light instrument in the hand.

From first arrival it was remarkably resistant to condensation - a very important quality.

It's sound is pleasant but not remarkable. (I have a Kung Marsyas in Plumwood that has a far more beautiful sound, but becomes hoarse easily).

This instrument is a very good practice recorder, easy to play right across the range including the upper register. This recorder is a good choice for a learner and I think a good buy.

Absolutely beautiful

Both the look and feel of this olivewood alto are a delight. The wood-grain is simply beautiful. The recorder is light to hold in the hand and very comfortable. I'm only playing in the instrument now, but I feel already I have a friend for life.
