the missing piece in my practice-at-appartment-with-thin-walls setup

I am sold. This is a masterpiece.

I was a tube amp man for almost 20 years. As I'm getting older I need a more compact solution for gigs, so I was looking for a small pedalboard - direct to - PA solution. As I use a Mooer 005 as amp simulator I ordered the Radar. I was shocked by the sound I got on FRFR monitor. Studio and live ready sound even with the built-in IRs, but as I can load 3rd party IRs as well, the OH IRs instantly gave me the required sound. Easy to use, very user friendly, very good sound. I am more than happy.

Its ok for the money.

Very good cab sim

Very good utility is u don't want to depend on venues rack...

A friend of mine suggested this speaker simulator to me. I was astonished by its sound. It is very small, does not take much space on the pedalboard and the sound is very convincing. The only negative is software which I was not able to make work. Anyway, I am happy with the model simulations it has.

Far better than what my Zoom G5 has to offer

The standard cabinet simulation of the pedal alone does sound quite good, super useful for people like me who can't record their guitars with cabinets and microphones. But the most impressive thing about this pedal is that you can use your own IRs. Really elevates the tones I get from my Zoom G5 multi-effect.

The design is quite simplistic as you have a single knob to fiddle with, but is fairly easy to use.

My only complaint is about the software and Mooer's websites. The website was a complete mess at the time I went to download the software. The download link I managed to find didn't work, but I did find another download link at the bottom of the page which did. Also the installer placed a wrong shortcut on my desktop which I had to manually fix. Not a big deal, but this gives a rather unprofessional image of the company. Thankfully the software itself was functional.

For what it is, unbeatable

I got one these based on the reviews I saw from Ola Englund and Pete Thorn. In essence, it's a convolution processor in a compact pedal form factor that's for modelling a guitar power amps and speaker stacks.

It's as deep as Kemper or AxeFX? No. But it is a very usable 3-stage convolution processor that can completely transform a DI'ed preamped pedal tone (e.g. MXR 5150 overdrive) into a "omg that sounds massive" tone - and for very little money.

Latency is sub-2ms so you aren't really aware of it. Impulses are limited to 23ms, which is 1024 samples at 44.1kHz samplerate. This is enough for power amps, speaker cones and close-mic'ed microphone modelling, but not for reverb.

You can also upload your own impulses with the same length limitation, and this will bypass part of the on-board signal chain. Pete Thorn demonstrates that you can use this with add body resonances to contact-mic'ed instruments such as guitar. Very interesting stuff.

The USB connection to editing software seems a bit a flaky to me, but that's the only negative I've found so far.

Poor quality on software side.

Amps sound good but the quality of this pedal is not the best. Rotary knob freeze all the time. Might be software issue.

cool & easy

very useful pedal ! You can upload your custom IR cabinets high resolution and these sound fantastic with pedalboard, amp, preamp or Axe Fx ! Very easy control and simple software :) Great

I waited for such thing more than 10 years.

Small, cheap with everything what IR fan needs.

note for pedalboarders - it can run with 9V without problems too. (confirmed from Mooer support and succesfully tested)

Valuable addition to my home studio

Use:

My home studio setup consists of Line 6 Firehawk FX and FR/FR monitors. Being not quite happy with the cabinet simulators included in the Firehawk FX I checked for affordable cab simulators so I decided to give the Mooer Radar. Eventually it became part of my home studio setup, being added to the effects loop of the Firehawk FX.

Pros & Cons:

Two only cons with regards to Mooer Radar - firstly, updating the firmware can be a bit complicated on Mac and secondly - the power supply is actually bigger than the pedal itself. Maybe Mooer should think of a more compact solution.

Besides of these two - amazing sound quality and no issues at all.

Comprehensibility:

Very easy and logical to operate, although the included software is a bit sloppy, but most probably the guys at Mooer will address this issue.

The included cabinet simulations are very good an realistic, the unit is way smaller than I expected (which is actually good), but still it is built like a tank. Highly recommended!

Great for what it is..

Great product to run your own cab-sims or carry them in your pocket.

If you have your own sim collection, everything else on this product is an extra added benefit. Stick on headphones or feed it to the desk. It does the job.

Default sims are highly usable and tweakable but nothing outstanding,

At this price, I can't think of any cons in format. Unit gets a little hot when in use, I hope this does not have a deteriorating effect in the long run.

Best small form cabinet simulator

Bought this for a small portable rig consisting of a rack tube preamp and effect unit as a direct feed for the front of house. The internal IRs are already a good starting point for this, but you can go deeper and upload your own IRs! It is very possible to get even better results than miking a cabinet onstage when gigging in small venues. Only one small thing that I would love to be otherwise - it requres 12V PSU and is very power hungry, which means you cannot use a standard pedal board supply to power both the Radar and the rest of the effects you might have.

Update the firmware and everything will be just fine!

This is a great unit with a surprisingly good sounding poweramp simulation! The default patches are very well taylored and the various EQ options are spot on!

However, the "Mooer Studio for Radar" software only started working properly after I updated the firmware, which I could only successfully do in a Mac (in a PC it just stops with an error message).

After that it was just fine and I was able to load and tweak my own impulses! You can even have the pedal pluged in and make adjustments both in the computer and with the pedal knob while listening to the results in real time! Great job!

This little All-in-one box is a lifesaver

First, about the receipt and shipping - it took a really long time, as I had ordered from India, and the customs over here can be a problem! But after a bit of running around, I managed to track the shipment down.

Secondly, about the Pedal, It is great, and exactly what I was looking for! Sound wise, it seems more geared towards Electric guitar sounds, whereas I'm using it for Bass mainly. The build quality is superb, have not had a single problem with it, even if i'm stuffing it in my gig bag. The design though is not that great, but now i'm just nitpicking.

The best thing about the pedal though is it's tweakability, specially in a live situation for me. For the price, it's one of the best buys I have made. It literally fits in my pocket, and wherever I am, whichever backline I end up using, whether i'm going to PA directly, if I'm in a rehearsal situation and the bass amp is not up to standard (I play with multiple bands), If i quickly need a different flavour to my basic sound, whatever my need is, this pedal delivers it with a few quick clicks.

I'm very happy overall. Thank you mooer!

Lastly, I've not tried any Impulse responses loaded into it, but I have no doubt it should be a great

A great little invention by mooer!

This thing kicks ass. It's basically transformed my practice rig's sound. I'm pairing it with an Orange Microdark and it sounds simply huge through my headphones! Loads of options and they all sound great: from beastly 4x12 for big heavy tones to clean 1x12 type tones. Some mild clipping if you don't take care of the input level (I wish they had included a clipping meter), other than that it's solid.
