Not so versatile as I have thought

I couldn't have the tones I had in mind with this one, this being the reason why I swapped it for a Boss BD2 which I discovered was much more "friendly" in terms of tone build.

Don't get me wrong, this is not a garbage pedal or something, just didn't do what I needed.

Pro:

Nice housing, high output

Cons:

not enough punch for my tele

tone control not so versatile

Great overdrive pedal!

Hello!

I always wanted this pedal, and I use it in conjuction with my MXR '78 Badass Distortion, when I want tons of gain or sustain, or with MXR Carbon Copy delay for soloing.

This is my 10th MXR pedal, and it's awesome like all my MXRs. Thanks to its small size it's great for padalboards. It's built like a tank and I believe that it will last for maaaaaaany years! The jack placement is ideal. The quality of the knobs and of the switch is great.

It has four adjustment knobs for tone, output, gain and the level of 100Hz signal. It has also a "Bump" switch which boosts mids ad lows. That means a plethora of tones while it still remains an easy to use pedal.

The sound of this pedal is awesome for Hard Rock and Heavy Metal that I usually play. For higher gain, use it in front of a '78 Custom Badass Distortion, also by MXR. With the proper adjustments you'll get a killer sound with massive gain and sustain!

I strongly recomment this great pedal. The quality and the sound of MXR pedals is excellent! I hope you will find my review helpful.

Thanks!

A versatile kickass pedal

This is just one of many distortion pedals I have and I find myself using this one more and more. You can get some great creamy rocky blues licks out of it, as well as some deep, heavy low chugging rythms with it.

The 100HZ bass control and the bass booster really adds some nice crunchy tones.

This pedal can be used from country leads, to 60s/70s rocky rythms to modern heavy tones.

As always, MXR has placed this tones in a really strong, vintage looking housing.

This is probably my new favorite overdrive pedal. MXR, you've done it again!

Good and versatile OD

Good for any type of guitar. Works well with clean to almost dirty signal paths. With almost breaking good amp and guitar expect great sound and it is also very transparent. If you plan to use this with high gain amps, prepare that you can dial in only a bit of signal boost, if you try more you will propably hear squealing (Gate pedals will not help).
