A compact, but comfortable 4×VCA

I have two of these next to each other in the middle of my rack. Covers most of my VCA and submixing duties. Not a huge fan of the small trimpots, but I usually don't have to mess with them while playing. Since I have so many vca's I can just run the modulation through another one to use a bigger knob for stuff which needs tweaking live (which again gives more flexibility).

Good for both CV and audio.

Note that you only get knobs for three of the vca's. That can mean you need to think through the order you use the slots.

Nice module, clean sound, no frills

For a simple, basic, clean VCA, this moduel certainly does the job!

Good for it's size

It's fine. Definitely does what it is supposed to in a small space. Obviously if you have three VC channels going in and out then that's going to be 9 patches cables all going into a tiny space, but that's what you get with a 8hp module. Cascading outputs is really useful.

I'm not sure what the maximum gain is but I would have preferred a greater range of amplification for mixing. As it is there does not seem to be a huge range between halfway and max.

Winner of the quad VCAs battle

It was hard to choose the right VCA for a very compact travel case.

The Nano ALT is literally the one module that could deliver the most features with the tiniest HP footprint. The build quality is fantastic, and it came with a set of Befaco's knurlies.

Ash I've called this the winner of the 'VCAs battle', let me mention the other modules that shared the podium with it, which will reveal the qualities of the NANO ALT.

-Silver medal goes to Malekko's Quad VCA. It has the same HP as our gold medalist, it has mutes (which is a big bonus), BUT you have to share two knobs for four different channels, not handy at all.

-Bronze medal goes to Intellijel's Quad Vca, its only fault being too big.

Conclusion:

If you need some VCAs and you don't have much space, ALT NANO is the module for you.

Very satisfied

The article was shipped very fast.

Very helpful module, since you can mix 4 different inputs (audio or cv) but also because you can cv-modify (with attenuators) the inputs so to have interesting modulations.

The only drawback is that the 4th channel has no attenuators, but I already new it before buying.

Very good!
