Not including full featured software.

The controller it self is ok but the fact you need to spend extra money for the full featured software is embarrassing.

A small and good digital mixer

I used this guy to play on some bars and events, and do the job very well!

You dont have a lot of outputs (only one master out and the usb), but everything works fine.

Is good to have with the full setup at home, because it not consumes space. I think is a good idea to use this master output on one multi channel mixer, to expand the possibilities and make the perfect mix between the digital and analogic world.

The best device for travel-dj

I like to travel a lot. As beginner DJ I use my FLX6 at home, but it's hard to carry it with me to the plane, so I bought Kontrol Z1 and X1 for my travel setup and it fit perfect for this purpose.

Brilliant mixer

They say keep it simple. This definitely does and has the quality as well. Brilliant little mixer.

Great mixer, some thoughts though

The Z1 mixer by NI is great! It really is, and with the X1 you have so much control over Traktor with a nice compact controllers.

You can really tell a lot of thought went in to these things, and that just lets you wonder, why the mode button is so useless... why not make it like a shift button, with more functionality?

Now that's not such a big deal, so besides that everything is great. I highly recommend anyone who's thinking into getting in to this to buy it.

If you're not getting into DJ'ing, and just want a more compact set up, well get two X1's and a Z2. Honestly losing the jog wheels is awesome.

Great basic mixer

Excellent sound quality, very portable and seamlessly integrated with Traktor. It could do with a few more outputs, but what is there works and works well. Fantastic build quality

Lean and mean

I don't DJ much anymore, but when I do I fly to England and bring a MacBook Pro.

Pros

It's light, small but not too small, and has just enough features to allow a full-on two deck mix without a huge drama to set-up. It's great that it works on different devices too. I thought I would miss the jog wheels but I got used to nudging with the mouse/trackpad.

Cons

I'm just a little worried that one day it's going to break inside my gig bag and stop me from playing my set. It feels a bit fragile.

Smooth controller

This by far the smoothest controller i have ever used for digital mixing...tight and large enough knobs to make it enjoyable

Very stable and with superb quality sound.

The fact that it is compatible with Ableton live AND Traktor was an important detail for me.

I bought the NI travel bag for the Z1 too, which serves as a nice stand when mixing.

Couldn't be happier, the design feel, build quality all seem top notch.

I now use the Z1 with an ipad which makes everything alot more portable.
