Unbelievable sound

I purchased a pair of KH80s for backup use from my main monitors - or so I thought until I heard them. They completely beat my expectations, these are excellent in their own right. I happen to also own a KH750, and with the ethernet connection, is a strong, if different kind of, contender to the KH310 (my main monitors).

It has plenty of punch on its own, and doesn't sound like the small box that it is at all. By this, I don't mean it goes low etc., I'm referring to the depth and breadth of the presentation - it is very robust and believable. I would dare say the spatial information might be superior to the KH310 in my set up.

I have also used the KH120 for a long time before, and feel (ignoring the new KH150s) that the most accurate sound is the KH310, the most modern sound is the KH80+KH750, and the KH120 falls somewhere in the middle (also ignoring the new version of the KH120, which apparently has DSP).

Audition recommended if this (KH80) is a good fit for your budget. I personally prefer them to a number of other excellent monitor manufacturers in the price range. Good luck!

Top of the range studio monitors

I bought them along with the kh750 sub and it’s a perfect match .these speakers are so revealing so you can hear the compression very easily

Detail and more detail

Competes well with the equivalent from Genelec, for me the Genelecs can come off slightly metallic in the treble, still awesome speakers. For me these win out. If you do music or film, you will want to get the KH 750 sub…it’s pricey. If you work mainly with mixing vocals (eg for broadcast / social media content) these KH 80 nail it with a very detailed mid-range and excellent imaging. Be sure to set them up correctly, use the built in DSP room EQ (you will need an iPad for that and a calibrated mic) Great speaker for the price.

Close to perfect

The quality that Neumann KH80 gave is pleasure to my ears but the problem is the control on the iPad. My router is 5 meter away from me, hence i need to buy 2 ethernet cable to correct the speaker, but the correction is minimal. I need to use my sonarworks in order to ensure the frequency as flat as possible due to my room is untreated.

Neumann offer MA1 allignment which I found out bit late, and the price is bit tad crazy. I can buy it but with the delivery close to 100 Euro (To Malaysia), I think I need to use the sonarworks as of now, but I really eager to find out the quality of the correction that Neumann offer, too bad..

Best speaker

I had heard a lot of speakers for example, Genelec 1237A with sub 7380, Genelec 8030 CP, Adam A 77x, Focal SM9, Amphion One 18 with FlexBase 25 and a lot of others.. But Neumann KH80 with Sub KH750 (Neumann Alignment Kit 3) is the best 2.1 set for small rooms and for who haven't big money for speakers.. Yeah, you could say It's cost 2.390€ but you can make music, like work with speaker from 5000 €.

Neumann KH 80 and KH 750 have REAL FLAT RESPONSE!

Remember this.. If your speakers not respond well after correction, the problem is your room..

unexpected experience

These small speakers totally change my perceptions about active monitor speakers. It sounds better than my more expensive passive system. I have done a lot research about the desktop speaker before buying. I think Neumann Kh80 DSP is the best you can get in this price range based on the performance. Buy it, you won't feel regret.

Neutral sound, good directivity, no hissing

I use these monitors for everyday casual listening. I went through 2 pairs of monitors before these and sent both back due to hissing sound without any signal (self noise). Neumanns are one of the best in terms of self noise although if they are close in a quiet room you can still hear the slight hiss.

The sound is neutral, pleasing and not fatiguing. Directivity is good, meaning you can have more freedom in positioning relative to speakers without losing neutral sound. Due to small drivers there is no sub bass so having a subwoofer is necessary for full spectrum monitoring.

The sound is excellent.

I would recommend purchasing the KH-750 subwoofer if possible.

if possible.
