The Novation Launchkey 61 MK3 is a versatile MIDI keyboard controller that is ideal for music production and performance. With its semi-weighted keys, aftertouch, rotary knobs, faders, and RGB pads, it offers a wide range of creative possibilities. Its integration with Ableton Live is a standout feature, and it also works well with other DAWs. The Launchkey 61 MK3 is a great choice for musicians and producers who want a powerful and flexible MIDI controller that can help take their music to the next level.
Great features and feel but low quality key-bed
This midi keyboard has everything you need to integrate with Ableton Live and also has some great features of its own like the arp and super useful Scale mode which can assign diatonic chords to the pads. What disappoints me is the build quality of the key-bed. I already had a dead note fixed and after a couple of months it's dead again :( Super frustrating and this is why I gave it a low rating. I might be unlucky and my unit has defects but I think the problem might re-occur in other units as well. This is a quality control issue.
Perfect for Ableton
So nice to have everything integrated with Ableton, very nice quality too! Gives a premium feel and I really like the design
Que bueno!
I'm just a beginner but I've been learning & practising with Novation Launchkey 61 MK3 so far all I can say is, it's amazing!..
The weight of the keys is good, connects with my computer & production softwares without any problem. Definitely would recommend it.
I like this midi
The best solution is if you work in Ableton, it is so convenient that you do not need to use the mouse, only the pads are too small
Nice quality, non-motorised knobs pointless.
This is just an update on the Launchkey 61 I have recently bought to use with Logic.
The keyboard looks and feels great, all works fine, the knobs and faders feel excellent.
However, I have reverted to only using the midi keyboard, not the knobs and faders.
These are mapped to Logics Pans and volumes, and work great BUT, if you open up say a recent project after working on another project, then you need to line up all the faders and knobs to match the on screen ones, as they are not motorised, a real hassle!
Also if you highlight say track 9 to work in, then that becomes the start of the new bank of 8 tracks for the faders, and you might wanna physically turn up track 2, but the fader will turn up track 10!
This doesn't happen in Pro Tools, you need to press shift and bank on the Novation, so even if you have highlighted track 9, the if you move track 2 fader, that will only move track 2, not 10!
Which makes it better to work with Pro Tools.
BUT at the end of the day, working with all the knobs and faders turned down/off on the Novation and using the Magic trackpad, is much easier!, the Novation keyboard is great through.
Theres a lot to be said for motorised faders! but even then I am sure I would just end up using the magic trackpad!,
of course you can use the play, record mute/solo buttons on the Novation, but even then using the trackpad and computer keyboard is easier, and I don't wanna start forgetting computer keyboard shortcuts.
But if anyone is thinking of getting the Launchkey, its very nice!
Exactly what I was looking for
Perfect for its price and perfect for beginners, I really recommend this as it has very good quality and features plus It feels very nice when you play on it.
