Not great sound

I bought this violin having read all the wonderful feedback from others. But I have to say that is just not my experience. It is a nice looking violin and it sounds nice on D string and that is about it. Notes on G string are so muffled you can hardly distinguish them. Playing in positions on G is not possible at all - the sound gets even more blurry. The same happens on E string in the higher positions. I even changed strings (E, A and G) to try to fix the problem but that did not help. Trying to tune with pegs is a hassle - they do not turn easy. The chinrest slices in my jaw badly. I thought an orchestra violin should have a decent quality sound but not in this case. I am quite disappointed with this violin and I think I will next get a Chinese make.
